dsl ![]() | First thought was 1976+ Marina GT - the Mk2 replacement for TC Coupe, now described as a 2-door saloon - but the sticky tapes aren't quite right - compare 1 and compare 2. Instead it's a LE Special based on 1.3 coupe with full-length sunroof, plastic wood dashboard, Oyster Gold paint, and brown, orange and cream upholstery; released April 78, 2050 made. Admire its beauty here, here, here (with distinctive badge visible as blob above), and here. Interesting article on this and other examples of Leyland's special edition creative magic here. |

JCB ![]() | These were fitted with a compressor on the back. No tarmac crew in Britain was without one in the 70's an 80's. They still use something similar. Known as Tracairs by the crews. -- Last edit: 2021-04-16 17:34:03 |

dsl ![]() | 4-part Yorkshire TV series by Alan Plater - quirky dry comedy drama which was the prototype/dry run for what became the rather wonderful Beiderbecke trilogy. Has Alun Armstrong in the James Bolam role and Bridget Turner (who?? but face is familiar) in the Barbara Flynn role. Not a forgotten gem, but agreeable enough, and many common traits - humour, jazz, Yorkshire, schoolteachers, strange mysteries which turn out to be inconsequential, comedy detectives, etc. Apparently they wanted to do a second series, but Armstrong couldn't fit it in so it was shelved until Plater rewrote it a few years later. Can be found as a DVD extra in the Beiderbecke Trilogy 21st Anniversary Edition boxset issued in 2006 by Network - see wiki, etc. Rejects: - ep2 - SD1 police car and big dark saloon - ep3 - Spitfire Mk4; Marina Mk3 and Sherpa ![]() |

dsl ![]() | Strange shot through double windows - was not going to make a main page until I realised we don't have a definite Type 83 (1980+, 2.2 litre) in our collection. Proof is the badge behind wheel arch; if you can disentangle the various reflections, the chrome window line and steep back of an Elite is apparent rather than the chopped outline of an Eclat. | 2021-04-15 23:00 |
