Citman ![]() | Yup - taken from Garscube Rd looking up Rose St. Church tower is St Aloysius. Church on right has gone, replaced with modern flats, and the waste ground behind the bus also has modern flats built on it now. | 2016-04-03 05:10

dsl ![]() | Most of the recognisable shots are Glasgow City Centre, but massive changes (redevelopment, urban motorways) since 1980 which was before I moved there. I've made some identifications and guesses, but never saw some of these locations as they were in 1980. | 2012-04-12 01:45
dsl ![]() | I'm guessing this is Cowcaddens on NW edge of Glasgow city centre, but could be wrong. If I'm right, this has changed a lot since 1980. | 2012-04-12 01:41
dsl ![]() | The building with tower is now the Pumphouse Visitor Centre with the Glenlee Tall Ship dry-berthed alongside, on north bank of Clyde a couple of miles west of Glasgow city centre, beyond the SECC, and opposite the Glasgow Tower and Science Centre on the south bank. Warehouses in background and dock furniture long gone - viewpoint now probably part of Glasgow Heliport. | 2012-04-12 01:38

Weasel1984 ![]() | Indeed, as I see now, in Spain actually it stayed as 180 too (even logical, if we think about 150). This way seems we have only one 1610 at the site: /vehicle_298717-Chrysler-1610-949-1979.html -- Last edit: 2011-04-18 22:20:51 |

dsl ![]() | UK was always only Chrysler and 180 (and 2-litre). Simca-based names like 1610 never used (nor any of 1307/8/9 and 1508/9/10 for the various Alpines and Solaras). | 2011-04-18 22:04
Weasel1984 ![]() | Shouldn't it be 1610 in 1978? http://pentastar.free.fr/Chrysler_fichier/Historique/Historiq.htm It stayed as 180 in UK? -- Last edit: 2018-06-14 20:35:05 |

dsl ![]() | 2L was automatic only in UK until Dec 1978, when manual was introduced alongside and the 180 dropped. All UK 2Ls had vinyl roof; early UK 180s had vinyl option until it was made standard. 160 and 160 GT and 180 diesel never sold in UK. It could have been a good car but so much was badly thought out or contradictory; the 160GT was really a less luxurious 180 with the 180's engine, and the 2L auto was slower than the 180. UK sales were pitiful after the first couple of years and after 1973/4 hardly any were sold. My father worked for Rootes/Chrysler and I remember his frustration when it came out - he had been working on the UK design and thought it would have become an excellent car as the V6-engined Humber C-model until the UK contribution was dropped and the whole project handed to France. He later had two 180s as lease cars - offered to staff at much cheaper rates than the Avenger simply to move them off the forecourts - and liked them without ever being enthusiastic. I remember them as very comfortable and the first cars we had for family holidays which could take all our luggage without needing to spill over onto the backseat - luxury!! |

ingo ![]() | I'm not sure, but I think, in West Germany we only had the 180. Oh, since 1977 only the 2L. Wikipedia says, too, that the naming wasn't really logical. So a 2L always had automatic transmission and a vinyl-roof. But you could get a vinyl roof for a 180 on extra charge, also (in West Germany after 1977), a 2L with manual gear-shift for a lower price. Aha. I must admit, that I've learned bit more, but haven't understand everything. ![]() http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talbot-Simca_1610 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_180 Even my wife, her brother and her mother cannot help me with details (details, important for IMCDB), even they had one 180 in the late 70ies. The main thing, they remember, is tht the following Granada II was a much more luxurious, reliable and smoother car. P.S. But my beige plastic-NOREV-180 has survived until today. The hoods and doors are fixed with glue, but it's still complete. -- Last edit: 2010-09-13 22:53:14 |

dsl ![]() | Originally the 180 in UK spec did not have the 2-litre's vinyl roof, spotlights, chrome side trim or dished hubcaps. Later UK 180s gradually adopted these, but Dynamike is correct about the C-pillar badge so this remains a 180. However it is a post-August 1976 model when the front wing indicators were added and all RHD 180 and 2-litre production was transferred to Spain. |

ingo ![]() | What are the differences between them? | 2010-09-13 21:59

Barrett ![]() | Okay, this is definitely an Invacar MK12, but this was never built by AC. The Invacar story is very murky and hardly any information exists about the subject, so it's easy to get confused. The name 'Invacar' is technically a seperate marque, in as much that 'AC' 'Tippen' or 'Barrett' were marques who all produced different variations of the invacar (hence the confusion). The Invacar marque was set up originally by the Greeves company in the 40s, and after it won the governemt contract, other makes joined up to boost production. There was some cross-over between marques, but mostly they made entirely seperate and unique vehicles. The car in this film, and pictured above could either be listed as a (marque)Greeves (model) Invacar MK12, or a (marque)Invacar (model) MK12..... but not as an AC! I hope this makes some sense.... | 2010-08-07 00:22

240 gardner ![]() | Looks like it has the Gardner 8LXB engine (the "240 Gardner") too - the engine appears to be protruding from the back of the cab. Definitely later version of Mk.2 cab, as you can make out the larger headboard. If it's a 4-wheel tractor, it is a Borderer, whilst a 6x2 would be the Leader and the 6x4 is the Venturer - sadly we can't see any wheels! |
2009-03-06 11:40 | ||
Weasel1984 ![]() | Since 1973 with this front end, but seems there is a small plastic wing under the bumper(?) - this would make it 1976+. Edit: since late 1980 it had wheels similar to these, but it is too early, so maybe it just lacks hubcaps... -- Last edit: 2016-09-25 19:08:35 |

Sunbar ![]() | Confirmed an Atkinson and likely to be an Atkinson Borderer. The unusual bright trim on the top of the door glass is visible and the shape of the cab door over the wheelarch is distinctive. http://ccmv.fotopic.net/p35773805.html http://ccmv.fotopic.net/p44199452.html |
