dsl SXUS was main target market from Jan 75 until May 76 UK (and Europe?) launch, so production for first year and a bit was broadly US spec. If other markets got them during this period (CDN??, J?? etc) it would have been on basis they accepted similar specs. So ex-US is a valid alternative. 2019-07-25 00:35
Exiv96 BEI don't know if there was a genuine "ROC spec" TR7, but this one looks like an imported US model. 2019-07-25 00:19
(inactive user)@the sad biker, regarding of a manufacturer producing a certain model or not, rebranding/rebadging stuff is still valid and is widely used on IMCDb. I suggest keeping it as Tailung 50.

Tailung bought the rights and tooling for 60-100cc models when Bridgestone ceased manufacture in 1970-71, that's a Bridgestone engine in an "updated" chassis, the 100S & SS were known as Antelope. There was a 90cc Eros and a 110cc Eagle.

the sad biker UKI can't find any info of Tailung producing any vehicle under their own name (admittedly searching in the wrong language), just references to Suzuki and the latter Rockford Bridgestones.

Perhaps one of our Mandarin correspondents might have more success?

dsl SXNo - just that WC info can be scrambled. The listing is an appendix with separate paragraphs for each company's overseas assemblies, with an alphabetical list by country within each paragraph which also says which models were involved. Multinationals like Ford have separate paragraphs for Ford USA, Ford GB, Ford D. The info for Cortina, Granada and Escort assembly in Taiwan has been wrongly entered under USA overseas section when it should be under GB overseas. (And yes it is the Euro Granada, not the US range).

Wait, so the Cortina, Granada (assuming you mean the Euro Granada, not the American Granada) and Escort were of US origin for Taiwan??
2019-07-24 15:50
dsl SXNot the Okinawa Capri. But I may have been thinking of this one in Thailand (well the countries have similar names and are both a long way away  ) but it doesn't have the other info I thought came with it.

World Cars info on Taiwan Ford builds is wobbly - nothing listed in early 70s then in 1975 (I have gaps in the collection) Ford USA were building Cortina, Granada and Escort. Ford UK and D have separate lists in several countries but nothing Taiwan mentioned. Previous experience of these WC assembly listings suggests they can be 2-3 years old when printed (so 1975 probably means actual 1972/73). So I've got nothing at the moment to suggest Taiwan built 1970-ish Capri, only a dodgy half-memory of something which may or may not be lurking in the collection.

s13a LTThe headlight position (and the headlight itself) seems to be different from Suzuki's original version as well, so maybe it should be called Tailung instead.

dsl SXNo sign of it using "Taiwan". May have been discussed with different wording - eg "local build" or whatever. Hazy memory is that despite no mention in most sources there was probably some Capri build in low numbers, possibly using parts from Germany alongside the small quantity of 26M [P7b] assembly. But only a fuzzy recollection, not solid. 2019-07-24 14:20

BS Tailung were (are still?) a Taiwanese motorcycle manufacturer, they appear to have a licencing agreement with Suzuki, my opinion is this is a Suzuki [insert model name] assembled by BS Tailung.

Some local knowledge needed.
