Mistral75 ![]() | A 1980 car in a film shot between February and April 1979? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080365/locations/?ref_=ttspec_sa_5 |

RichardPercival ![]() | Why are the mirrors painted matte black? I think all Production cars were chrome along with the rest of the brightwork. Was this something done by the filmakers to prevent difficult reflection in the camera lens, or some late 70s trend I don't know about? | 2021-05-04 22:54
RichardPercival ![]() | You can see in this shot behind him that the headrests have been removed for filming so the actors can be seen better in the car. The impact bumpers and whitewall tyres aren't to my taste, but I don't mind the American headlights which I believe were used on all the Rally cars (don't know if that was marketing as the car sold more than half of production in the US or because the sealed beams were quicker to fix during a race) I still prefer the clean Euro headlights overall though, as on ALL 60s/70s/80s Mercedes ![]() |

G-MANN ![]() | What about the chrome bumpers? They were replaced with black rubber ones for the US market in 1973. | 2013-08-04 01:42
night cub ![]() | I actually prefer the round headlights to the bug-eye Euro look. This one missiing it's headrests BTW. | 2013-03-11 23:45
ingo ![]() | They are worst, but the ugly headlights and taillights have also their part. | 2013-03-11 23:11
G-MANN ![]() | He's right, those bumpers spoil it. | 2013-03-11 23:04
ingo ![]() | No. More ugly. These terribly looking US-spec conversions destroy absolutely and totally the classic design-lines. Inexcusable ![]() |

somename ![]() | Right; it's a 73 grill. Also not a Brougham due to the lack of crome moldings along the top of the fenders. | 2013-03-10 22:31

wunaladreamin ![]() | Probably LAPD. They did have 74's. I heard they felt the car didn't handle as well with the new 5mph mandated bumpers as the earlier LAPD Matador units, with the extra weight....Don't remember where I heard that so don't quote me! | 2012-01-08 08:33
night cub ![]() | 1979 Cutlass Supreme grill | 2011-10-10 02:36
130rapid ![]() | Agree. The flat covers could be delivered till 1974 for US-market. So it's 1975 car. | 2011-09-23 18:51
somename ![]() | Narrow grill+fender skirts=77 model, also I thinks it's a mild stretch. | 2011-08-10 16:18 |
