Skid ![]() | Mostly shot in the little town of Julian, an hour east of San Diego. Numerous Los Angeles locations are also listed on IMDB, along with Oakland. | 2017-02-12 21:53
BrentMosher420 ![]() | If it's a GLC it'd have to be a brand new 1977 model (rather than a 1979), as this movie was mainly filmed in 1976. | 2017-02-12 07:05
BrentMosher420 ![]() | Los Angeles? Wasn't this movie mainly filmed in Oakland? |
2017-02-12 07:02 | ||
BrentMosher420 ![]() | Just got my new DVD of the remastered version - It's as great as ever! Easily one of my top 5 horror movies, alongside Halloween (1978), The Exorcist (1974), The Thing (1982), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974 - tied with The Thing), and The Evil Dead trilogy (which I basically consider to be one big movie). | 2017-02-12 06:58
Skid ![]() | Apparently it later appeared in the background of a season 4 episode of CHiPs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJH16i4tDTE Can't be proven that's the car, but I'd call the odds pretty good. How many jet black 1971 'Cudas were there in the Los Angeles area at the time with those same custom fender flares? -- Last edit: 2017-02-12 03:12:04 |

jason_lemur ![]() | I think that's a BMW 320i in the background at the neighbour's house. Those came out in 1975 and were made until 1983. | 2012-01-11 04:46
tony ![]() | only year the 'Cuda came with 4 headlights | 2011-07-06 01:05
atom ![]() | Both wikipedia and your link gives "joint Japanese and American company" and "Its headquarters were in the rural town of Athena, Oregon." And if I understand this article correct it was built in Japan? http://www.strictlyhodaka.com/images/whateverhappenedtoHodaka.jpg So, Origin: USA, Made in: Japan? |

biff ![]() | Skid is right,its a 340,(interestingly enough,in the second movie "Reg" drove a 71 Hemicuda,totalling it near the end of the movie,the third movie starts with the end of the second one and continues from there with Reg driving a 70 Hemicuda convertible!) | 2007-07-21 11:43
Skid ![]() | According to your link, Magnus, the car was originally a 340 'Cuda. Interesting. Still a rare car, though. | 2007-07-04 21:29
ahight ![]() | i think so too: /vehicle_54921-Mazda-GLC-1979.html (this one looks to be the same color) the gap between the hatch and the left panel would be more visible if it was a chevette: /vehicle_67525-Chevrolet-Chevette-1978.html the glc/323 the gap is on the side of the car so you don't see it. another glc shot: /vehicle_87945-Mazda-GLC-1981.html (this one's too new since the movie was in '79.) -- Last edit: 2007-06-19 04:30:34 |

Magnus1959 ![]() | It was only made to appear as a 440 six barrel. Check into the history of the movie. | 2007-04-20 07:39
Jun ![]() | Drive chain of Ossa sets on right side...I think it's europian trail too. May be round tank badge is the key to solve... |

nzcarnerd ![]() | Could this be an early Yamaha trail bike - around 1970 - DT125 or something?? | 2007-04-19 11:33
mrcadillac ![]() | Professional car (funeral coach) on 1966 Cadillac commercial chassis (90% sure). The last image (where you see the hearse in flames) looks more like a 1970 model (90% sure)! Perhaps the film-makers used a wreck for the "fire" scene. | 2007-04-18 12:32
Ddey65 ![]() | No idea, but it is the same type of truck. 3112's were the 1/2 ton cowl, windshield & chassis trucks. I haven't got the foggiest idea how many truck body companies made ice cream vending bodies. -- Last edit: 2007-04-18 04:28:03 |

crossroads ![]() | There's no other view, the car pulls up to the driveway and the driver gets out to talk to one of the main charecters. | 2007-04-18 01:13
Skid ![]() | Technically, it's not a Barracuda, it's a 'Cuda. Those were considered separate models from 1970 through 1974. I also notice that it's a 440 Six Barrel. Quite a rare car, as only 237 hardtops and 17 convertibles were built with this engine for 1971. This would be quite the collector's item today, as these consistently sell for six digit figures. |
