eLMeR MHThe official Renault code for the R12 was R117, not X17.

DynaMike NLThere are no side markers. 2009-12-16 12:45
ingo DEIt has US-bumpers, but not the side-markers. So it's a question, if it's a "real" US-version. You could/still can buy US-typical features for your car in Europe, too. This doesn't make it automatically to an US-version. 2009-12-16 11:42
ingo DEChrome fuel-cap, colour "anconabluemetallic" - from the first year. 2009-12-16 11:38
ingo DEThe VW left has the "Weltmeister"-alloys. I have doubts, if the car itself is a 1972 "Weltmeister"-special-model. The colour "marathonmetallic" fits, but the back lamps are looking like from a 1302. The "Weltmeister" was only a 1303. 2009-12-16 11:36

It is an Aérospatiale SA315B Lama. This is a modification of the Alouette II for thin air mountain regions. First produced in 1969 and under licence by HAL and Helibras until today.

This type holds the altitude record reaching 12.442 m in 1972.

DynaMike NLThe grey rubber around the windscreen makes it a 'real' DS, and the small chrome strips just under the side windows make it even a Pallas. The colour is Beige Tholonet (AC 085, metallic), this was available in 1973-1975.

rpcm PTIt's a US-spec [W123] in coupé form. Giving this detail, it can be a 1978+ 280 CE or a 300 CD. Giving the date of the film, the 1982+ 300 CD Turbo Diesel can be excluded. 2008-02-03 19:51

King Maz wrote I'm with you. I'd say that's an early Mazda 626 (CB2) Coupe (1979-81)
It must have been brand new in the film.

Also Italian drivers had got that coupč model(an Italian motor magazine at time of launch of range on our market in 1979,saidin an article, such headline:"626:was a Fiat truck's name, now is a Mazda's saloon name"--the Fiat truck called such the Mazda was marketed at end of '30s until early '40s)

bref FRIn France it was France Motors (where this car is registered), who started in 1952 with Chrysler and Rootes car. When Rootes and Chrysler started to be distributed by Simca, they searched for new company to distribute. They distributed the marginal Jensen, Ghia and De Tomaso, but also Chris Craft boat. The founder discovered Mazda at 1967 Bruxelles motor show and started importing Mazda for 1968 model. In 1971, France Motors became a company of the TKM group. In 1979 (date of the film) France Motors distributed Mazda and Innocenti in France. 2006-09-29 22:00

Zitat Ŕ la base je suppose que le D suivi d'un mot en S était fait pour rappeler "DS" (sűrement pas un hasard :D)

Citroën had actually the same idea for the GS, the Gspécial was available for a few years. Later they changed it into GS Spécial. It also apllied for for the DSpécial, although that was never available as DS Spécial to my knowledge...
They also had a GS Super around for a few years (Yugoslavian made model), they didn't apply the single letter spelling there...
