JCB ![]() | Series 1 definite. Wing shape and door tops etc. In the 1960s and 70s vehicles were given a number plate for the year they were registered not manufactured, hence many ex military vehicles have plates a lot newer than vehicle. -- Last edit: 2015-12-14 14:20:03 |

dsl ![]() | Early Landies can often be older than their plate date if ex-Army etc and then sold on to private ownership. But I'm not sure about S1 - this has bodywork below the bottom of the doorline and the lower edge of the door window is lower than base of windscreen, plus door hinges do not look S1 big shiny Meccano-ish triangles. So I think S2 at least, and maybe 67 S2a could be correct??? | 2015-12-11 04:58 | ||

eLMeR ![]() | 1967 due to the E suffix on the plate. It should therefore be a Series IIa, but the headlamp location (with their top slightly above the fender line) and the door window shape make me more likely see a 1948-58 Series I here. Could it be possible despite the plate number? ![]() (Series I // Series II/IIa) |

dsl ![]() | Ford UK had problems with other 1968 metallics doing the same thing - Blue Mink was also notorious. But Saluki Bronze and Fern Green were fine as far as I can remember. And again from memory, Escorts and Cortinas suffered badly, but Corsairs and Zephyr/Zodiac were OK. Agree Mk2 was the most elegant Cortina - Mk1 was too fussy, Mk3 too bloated. |

cl82 ![]() | Since I know a thing or two about Ford-products and their built-quality, there's nothing here that annoys or surprises me. I'm fine. Still, it's a bit of a pity because this particular Ford must have looked gorgeous when it was new. Especially this Generation of Cortina looked much more elegant and inspiring than its successor IMHO. -- Last edit: 2015-12-11 02:54:19 |
