Axl Rose ITThis film was shot in 1978 and released in Italy on January 1979, so there was still S2 when it was filmed :) 2014-02-25 15:04

Axl Rose wrote This movie was sponsored by British Leyland (brand new Jaguar, Range Rover, Rover SD1 and Princess)

.... and the Mini Clubman Estate. But the Jag S2 was replaced by S3 from March 79 so they missed a trick there.

Axl Rose ITThis movie was sponsored by British Leyland (brand new Jaguar, Range Rover, Rover SD1 and Princess) and Ford (brand new Fiesta, Taunus and Granada in high specs). Maybe also the brand new Giulietta was a bit like sponsoring (there were some lines about it if I remember well). 2014-02-25 01:46
Axl Rose ITThis film was shot in 1978 anyway, and released on January 1979..so they probably are 1978 brand new cars (never seen all those Princess together in Italy xD), by the way they are first or second series? 2014-02-25 01:41
dsl SXLeyland loved their little jokes of renaming things for foreign markets, especially low volume countries. So let's assume a transporter of 4 Princesses (black grille with Princess script badge) are brand new for film date, so 1979 cars. And accept the evisence of that 1978 advert in link ^. So we now have a new version - 1979 Austin Princess 1800 HL, made for I for unique name.

And I bet that despite these marketing tricks, they still sold diddley squat numbers in Italy ....

Axl Rose ITInitially in Italy it was marketed as Austin Princess, but I don't remember if the name changed also here. Anyway the only version imported for the first series was the 1800 HL. 2014-02-24 22:31
