electra225 ITNo, Ingo the L was available for 1976, too and for '77 had gum on the bumper. So this is a 1976 Polo L.
Look at the original "Prospekt".

cko USI imagine old cars, especially more disposable, inexpensive models, are very scarce in Bermuda? This is a nice historical look at the islands automotive landscape back then. 2014-12-28 04:02

The SS Doric was an ocean liner/cruise ship originally built in France in 1964 as the SS Shalom for ZIM Lines of Israel. Over a 30-year career she served various companies under various names; she bore the name SS Doric from 1973-1981 when she was owned by Home Lines. She exited active service in 1995 when her then-owners went bankrupt. While being towed to India to be scrapped in July, 2001, she sank off the coast of South Africa.

ingo DEAs it has chrome trims on the front edges, a brand new 1977/78. The first Polo were basic ones, the luxoury equipment (what "luxoury" was for VW back then...) was dedicated to the Audi 50. 2014-12-27 19:06
dsl SXProbably SL 2014-12-27 19:04
dsl SXMetallic so probably Hunter DL more likely than Minx - same poverty version, just different names after/before 1970.

Hunters were assembled in Trinidad & Tobago and in Jamaica - anyone able to suggest whether either is likely source for Bermuda??
