Commander 57 ![]() | Sixtiesswing, You are the first person to state this technically correct. Most regard the 1958/59 Continentals as Lincolns, probably because they so closely resembled the '58 Lincolns unlike the '56/'57 models. But the fact is, Ford kept a separate Continental Division right on through the 1959 model year. The cars did not bear the Lincoln name and advertising in '58 and '59 still presented the Continental as a separate make. |

ManuelB ![]() | For me too, that's clearly a 1946+ Austin Eight, recognizable with its straight windshield and these heavy fenders without tin borders around. |

sixtiesswing ![]() | No, it is either a 1959 or 1960 LINCOLN. It is definitely not a 1958 model as that had a one-year-only design with headlights separated in nacelles from the grille. This is either a '59 or '60. Lincoln and Continental were two separate divisions / makes at Ford through the 1959 model year. It is difficult to tell from this photo, but my GUESS is that it is a Lincoln coupe. The roofline does not look like it has the "Breezeway" forward canted C-pillar that a Continental Mark IV or V would have. Perhaps a Premier or Capri...or even just "Lincoln" as the 1960 base model had no name. |

sixtiesswing ![]() | This is a very unique car to capture on film on a contemporary London street. That being said, Lendrum and Hartman had a good business as a GM importer in the UK since the 1930s, and of course a neighborhood like this in London has tons of money. It may be the London transport of a rich Arab, an exec with a US company, or perhaps a wealthy Englishman with a knack for something different. Great to see this car! | 2022-11-30 02:47
sixtiesswing ![]() | The color is rather strong in this day and age, but that triple light yellow looks good, especially with the blackwall tires and basic hubcaps. The cars on these US shores invariably had whitewalls and wire wheel hubcaps. I always consider these the sunset of the true original Cadillac as I knew it, and I think the small number of British buyers held this perspective. Occasionally something like this will pop up in a then contemporary UK show or film, and though unsual, not exactly rare. | 2022-11-30 02:42

993cc ![]() | From ep. "Cry Wolf", shot March 1981. 1 of the 406 cars produced for homologation in 1981, carries UK reg (possibly ending in 521W or 527W? see thumb). In a London car park in 1981 it's probably one of the 75 RHD CGT's. Not 1 of the 60 GTS (all LHD) with fixed headlights, the GT had the standard 924 pop-ups as this pic shows And a brighter but not necessarily better pic ![]() edit: actually do not see thumb for the reg... but I've seen it in a hd version of this (which I cannot upload for now) http://www.924gt.com/index.html https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_924#924_Carrera_GT_Typ_937_(1981) http://www.mark-1.co.uk/Professionals/e07.htm -- Last edit: 2022-01-05 15:25:01 |
