fenderuse22 ![]() | I wouldn't know how to prove it exactly, because it's been nearly 30 years.... but I think my neighbors owned this car. they had restored it. but it did have damage like this when they found it. it was otherwise all original. | 2022-08-31 05:32
BluesmobilerMCMLXXIV ![]() | A goof cited on imdb.com is that the police cars are older than their service life. I am unclear on how long police departments use their cars, but this is a far-fetched example; perhaps this was a subtle joke. Paul Bartel specialized in directing comedies, and this movie is funnier than it needs to be. | 2021-01-24 05:26
BluesmobilerMCMLXXIV ![]() | Which state police is it supposed to be? The insignia looks like CHP (as it probably really was)but their cars would not say "State Police" on the fender. Given the scene where this car appears, either it was still in California, or just outside, in Nevada or Arizona. | 2021-01-24 05:19

lightninboy ![]() | The Charger and the Mustang were reenacting Bullitt. |

Razor440 ![]() | Quite notably the main cars in this movie have a very 70's "street machine" style appearance. Both the Charger and the Mustang as seen in the final chase are fitted with period accessories- such as the KC foglights on the Charger, and sidepipes on the Mustang, as well as the Ansen Sprint "slotted-mag" wheels, that were quite popular back in the day. The amount of small sponsors they plastered all over the cars also reminds me of the late sixties Hot Wheels and how they came with sticker sheets with similar decals to the two main cars, that you could apply in a similar fashion. I also love how the Charger has such an interesting rear wing that probably looked strange back in 1976, when the movie came out. | 2017-06-16 20:27

cycolac fan ![]() | I'd realised it's the same car but never spotted it's the same driver! He's the race organiser isn't he? So he followed the race all the way from Cali to New York in his Thunderbird then crashed into the girl's team in an alleyway a few miles from the finish line? Bizarre. |

2012-04-09 17:25 | ||
cycolac fan ![]() | A Dodge truck rolls over and it's full of mannequins - that's where they all appear from. Perhaps a subtle joke because none of the cars that burned have drivers in them. Obviously it would have made unpleasant viewing if they had! |
