Iaremattman ![]() | Actually watched this stunt happen and slept in the house the night before. This car was Sammy Armstrong's car. She is the wife of legendary stuntman Peter. After this stunt was done, Sammy, my mum and myself went to get the crew lunch in it. | 2020-09-07 14:20
Z2 ![]() | As per above comments, Laurentian, not Parisienne. The 1963 Pontiac Parisienne was only pillarless/hardtop. A pillared Parisienne wasn't offered until 1964 (at this point, the Laurentian was discontinued). No idea why GM bothered selling Pontiacs/Chevrolet in Australia in the 1960s. They were nearly 3 times the price of a Holden Special (meaning almost no one could afford one) and they only sold maybe 500 a year. Resale value was shocking, because they were huge and thirsty and nobody wanted them once they got old. -- Last edit: 2020-10-13 14:25:19 |

Z2 ![]() | Most captures upgraded to HD (about 75%), but HD version has different framing (yet same aspect ratio) which meant a lot couldn't be replaced. Due to relatively low budget of the film, it appears to be shot on low grade film (perhaps 16mm?) which results in less sharp picture quality than would normally be expected for film captures. Note that about 90% of the movie is filmed in Australia, with only a 10 minute sequence in HK. For planes DB: -- Last edit: 2020-05-14 20:27:22 |

Z2 ![]() | No such thing as 200 model in Australia. The cheapest models here at the time were the 220D/240D/230. -- Last edit: 2020-05-13 18:10:43 |

dsl ![]() | Not so clear cut. The notchback body started as an abandoned UK Maxi saloon proposal which was morphed onto ADO17 instead Plate looks like NOB 545F or similar = Birmingham, April 1968. Leyland Aus may have done some of the morphing, but Longbridge continued involvement for a Vanden Plas ADO17 proposal, possibly predating the Kimberley/Tasman range. I think I've read that the Aus contribution was more about the oily bits, developing the 6cyl version of the Maxi E-series engine which was also used in Aus Marinas and then the design was reverse-imported to UK for the ADO17 Mk3 2200 versions. But I'm not arguing strongly, and have changed our small bunch of Kimberleys to match. |

130rapid ![]() | Leyland Australia engineers' effort was significant. Even door handles were different because of local law demands. It's much more Australian design than Polish design in Polski Fiat 125p. |

130rapid ![]() | I'd say origin: Australia. The Aronline page claims: 'The Austin Kimberley and Austin Tasman were developed and styled by Leyland Australia as a replacement for the Austin 1800'. | 2020-05-12 20:20

dsl ![]() | Yes - also the medium blue in main. Gold looks high trim SL. Blue also looks as if high-trim version grille - again maybe SL HB although could be LC, or perhaps .... (cue drumroll)...... a Brabham Torana HB which was coded as XS5. I don't know a lot about these but apparently HB Toranas came as S1 and S2. S1 Brabham had black stripe down body centreline, so this ain't an S1. S2 Brabham did not have this stripe, although did apparently have some taping around the nose (perhaps like UK Brabham Viva HB - http://db2.stb.s-msn.com/i/D7/1084279D71935EA7732EFA9C6636C2.jpg , http://www.vivaoutlaws.co.uk/brabham/brabham.html ) plus black rear panel and grille. I'd like to find something Brabham'd one day - Torana, Viva (HB or also HA, but that was only externally a small badge, with no striping) or even a Brabham Herald Coupe - http://www.northcotts.clara.net/tsscdevon/carlists/herald/brabham.html , http://www.retroscenemag.com/post/Formula-One-Tuning-on-the-1960s-Street.aspx , https://bpostwarclassics.runboard.com/t9722 . |

929V6 ![]() | Not a Datsun, but a 1973+ Toyota Publica [KP30] | 2009-12-14 10:10
rjluna2 ![]() | It is right hand drive and it is SRW (Single Rear Wheel) as a truck. If this configuration like this in our country we would have DRW (Dual Rear Wheel). Also it is listed as F-100 where normally our country with this truck configuration like this usually comes as F-250 or F-350. That is what it makes me think this is Australian version. | 2009-08-02 01:57
antp ![]() | But then what makes you think it is Australian version? (your first comment) -- Last edit: 2009-08-01 10:30:59 |
