eLMeR MHMore likely W115, apparently :)

This car doesn't have the wraparound rear bumper of a 280, so a W115 (200 to 220D, for the 1968-73 MY range) or, as W114, a 230 or a 250.

Yes, I admit that, for once, I didn't give the name of the cars in the caption :)
This said, 17M, 20M and 26M 4-door models share the same body, so I didn't see the use of it...

I'm Ok with this (I asked for it or for the use of generic names in a lot of similar cases ;) ), as far as we all act the same way. I proposed the W114 solution a I thought it was the one that was already used :)
So "W115 as default" is the official IMCDb rule about the unrecognizable W114 / W115 cars?

130rapid wrote [...] There's one element which is indicating the 280/280E [W114], visible on your yellow sample: deeply wraparound rear bumper.

Thanks for this and for the window trim tip.

About the US cars pictures you linked, here is a picture from the 1974 Dutch/Flemish W115 Diesel brochure, to compare with the W114 proposed above:
(Where one can see the non-deeply wraparound rear bumper and the lack of window trim in European models too ;) )

You have doubts... very well! It progresses the site! Let's do it. :sun:
I'm looking for perfect W114/W115 samples and just found some detail.

Compare (US 1974+ samples) 240D & 280. The 280 door rims have extra 'jewellery'.

130rapid PLWe've same problem with Skoda 105 or 120 [Typ 742] indentification: only the rear badge and... oilpan (if visible) gives the answer.
That is why we are following 'choose the lowest version as possible' rule, when we can't recognize exact version. Because statistics. Mercedes made over 626,000 1974+ W115s and over 109,000 W114s. Yes, it isn't perfect rule.

There's one element which is inidicating the 280/280E [W114], visible on your yellow sample: deeply wraparound rear bumper.

eLMeR MH@ cl82 & 130rapid: there were no double front bumper on the 1974+ W114 models, so we certainly should better give this car a default W114 identification...

929V6 NL1970+ either 2CV 4 or 2CV 6. I think the 2CV 6 was more common there, if not the only version that was available. 2015-03-12 22:29
(inactive user)The question would be what kind of 2CV it is. 2015-03-12 22:29
electra225 ITNot a 26M because this is in the 2 door sedan (not coupé) body style and 26Ms were only built as 4 door sedans and coupé (2 door hardtop). Therefore a 17M or a 20M.
The vinyl roof is confusing but it was a popular option and the rear plain trim let me think about a 17M (P7b).
