humungus ![]() | I figured this one could use an HD upgrade, so I prepared it and it will be sent on in due course. In doing so, I observed the HD version was framed differently from the source of the current images which is most notable with the Daimler as its plate is not visible. Meanwhile, here's a pickup not listed (it's bigger at 1080p): ![]() And some lights: ![]() |

cudak888 ![]() | You've got to admire a sound designer with the cojones to dub the SFX of a Volkswagen Beetle onto a Mustang - I thought I was watching a Herbie film for a second. -- Last edit: 2023-05-18 06:38:20 |

Sunbar ![]() | From listing of preserved Fire Engines https://www.dennissociety.org.uk/preserved/fire/index.html 1947 Dennis F1 Chassis No 3197 (unregistered) Pump Escape Klerksdorp Fire Brigade South Africa. Its not said how many were supplied (only that this machine with Braidwood type body was supplied to Klerksdorp municipality); its likely to be from the same batch if not the actual machine but without the escape ladder during filming. http://www.mangaungfire.co.za Dennis F1 'TY-5' Chassis No 3197 is an exhibit at Mangaung Fire Department Fire Brigade Museum in South Africa -- Last edit: 2019-11-17 16:07:02 |

JCB ![]() | Not surprised they didn't like them , this was a very poor cab for a premium heavyweight truck and was more suited to lighter cheaper trucks like the Dodge. | 2011-07-29 22:09
ingo ![]() | Hmm, does it work? My first try with ImageShack... An interesting footnote behind this pic: http://img529.imageshack.us/i/img3574kc.jpg/ Yes, it has a DDR-registration! ![]() As the "Western cars in the DDR"-specialist in my plate-collector's-forum has told me, some of these Leyland Beaver were indeed officially imported into the DDR (Normally there were never ever British trucks sold in Germany, in the West neither). But they were not loved by the truckers of the big VEB-hauliers like DEUTRANS (too unreliable, too thirsty, too British technic), so very soon they were given downwards, to less importants VEB's and then to private companies (they were allowed in the DDR, if they had max.10 employees). The most paradoxical detail was, that the replenishment of original new spare parts (always a drama in the DDR, for anything) has worked very well, also for the final private owners. When the DDR-import-company tried to cancel the contract, because noone was happy with these trucks, and they wanted to deepen their contacts with Volvo and Mercedes Benz, Leyland has persisted the contractual performance, which included also the delivery of a fixed amount of spare parts for a fixed period. So the DDR had to pay hyper-rare Western currency for buying parts for stuff, which the state doesn't own any more. The private owners (which cold by the parts for DDR-Mark) had been happy. -- Last edit: 2011-01-19 20:24:31 |

Citsa ![]() | Hmm, the branding is on the right hand side rear of the bootlid, and on the little plaque that can be seen between the front wheel and the front door in the third thumbnail above, neither of which are legible... However, due to this plaque, I do "guess" that this one was called a Cedric, since the branding on the "numbered" ones I've seen have always been separately applied/ individual raised letters. -- Last edit: 2009-02-01 02:01:21 |

nzcarnerd ![]() | Looking at it again I see this car has the strip across the back like the one in the second link so I would suggest Chevrolet Kommando about 1971. Car source ZA? | 2009-01-31 10:09
nzcarnerd ![]() | There is some information here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_Kingswood about export Holdens. This car is possibly still a Holden as the first Chevrolet badged Holden was based on the HG, the last model of this shape. I am not sure of we are clsoe enough to this car to be sure. DynaMike ![]() | RHD, so probably in South Africa... Looks Chrysler-ish, indeed. There were locally built models and Australian ones overthere, weren't there ? | 2009-01-30 13:43
Sunbar ![]() | Its the LAD (Leyland Albion Dodge) cab again. A steel (not fibre-glass) cab made by Motor Panels Coventry and used by all three companies. The Dodge grille was different to Leyland/Albion. The Albion had the 'sun-rise' name plate - Leyland was spelt out in letters. A long way in the distance but this could be Leyland I believe. |

medimanic ![]() | The Chrysler 180 Simca/Rootes? absolutely not. Would be much smaller in first place, had never divided fr. window and I don't remember it imported in the United States. Styling is close though, might be a US Chrysler maybe? | 2009-01-30 11:18 |
