The windshield looks to be the wrong shape for a TR4.

;) 2009-09-02 12:51
medimanic GRThe white convertibles are MG B and Triumph TR4 IRS or TR5. The yellow beats me but looks like another TR4. There are also a DB Panhard & an big Healey in the same line. 2009-09-02 12:32

I guess it was unusual to see so many rare/more expensive cars in one place (of this kind) even in those times and even on the west of Europe.

No, definetely not unusal. And this shocks me so much. In the 60ies and early 70ies therev was no awareness about classic and oldtimer-cars neverwhere, so in all countries old and premium cars were wrecked and crushed. Or just crushed.

Just one extreme example: /vehicle_200954-Iso-Rivolta-IR-300-GT-1965.html

And there are many more examples. It would be great, if we could list all scrapyard-shots in this data-base in an extra thread.

Just stroll around the homepage of my friend Martin Vorwahl: http://icmesa.com/tinhunter/
The scrapyards, he has photographed, were all filled up decades ago.

Some years agor there was a story in the magazine "Oldtimer Markt" about the freaks from the biggest German Classic Mercedes- Club, who, went to the USA to fill up one big container with Mercedes-parts from junkyards. Very well known was a place somewhere in California, where only Mercedes Benz were wrecked. That guy had some "Pagoda's", "Adenauer" and even to 300 SL stuck in his scrap-packets.

It seems to be some special junkyard(?). :D I guess it was unusual to see so many rare/more expensive cars in one place (of this kind) even in those times and even on the west of Europe.

rjluna2 USWith French Headlights.

Looks like it has optional external tachometer fitted on the hood.
2009-08-03 13:55
DynaMike NLI'd love to see a DB here, of course... but I'm afraid it isn't: windscreen is too high and round, rear wheel arched are too high, air scoop on the bonnet to wide and too far to the front. And the René Bonnet would have its front wheels further to the front (the Renault engine was placed behind the front wheels, unlike the Panhard engine in the DB). 2009-08-03 12:52
Pavelik FRat first sight I would select the girl. :sun:

Lateef NOWell, when he's having such a beautiful bike in his possession it's not hard to understand why... :) 2009-08-03 12:38
DynaMike NLI agree, Jean-Marc. I misread my 'Rétroviseur' #133 (dossier R4). I was surprised because they said that the 1966 Parisienne had dark bleu as base colour... On p. 59 they show a picture of the Parisienne with opening third side windows and fixed rear door windows, and this is said to be from a 1965 brochure.
Btw, according to Rétroviseur the 1966 version had the Parisienne logo only on the left front wing.
2009-08-03 12:37
sixcyl FRItalian ? no I don't think so... and I think the DB /René Bonnet lead is quite good ... 2009-08-03 12:32
sixcyl FR...and sliding window appears for YM 1964 according to Gazoline Hors-Serie N°37 , therefore I'd go rather for a 1964 YM my dear Mike ;) 2009-08-03 12:26
sixcyl FRYes, but a 1966 YM should have "Parisienne" logo on the front side wing :/ 2009-08-03 12:24

Second film of the "Trilogie paillarde" from Jean-François Davy.
Very pleasant to watch for the female characters playing in it and for the cars seen in it. This junkyard is a mine of 1960's sports cars... :)
