oliviergiraud US1965 Vespa 150 Sprint, "Vespa S" (anodized badge on front legshield). The tail light is from a 1969 or later model.

1965 Vespa 150 Sprint, "Vespa S" (badge anodisé sur le tablier). Le feu arrière est d'un modèle plus récent, vraisemblablement d'après 1969.

LVCDC FRA very good memory about this movie !
I'd like to watch it again ... just to forget the disappointing remake of 1997.

dsl SXFairly sure Innocenti were sold in France about this time. But if you want it to be a UK car, I can almost convince myself when magnified that it has a GB plate and a UK plate font. Also don't think it has external door hinges. So 1970+ Mini 850 Mk3 is possible. 2014-05-29 02:33

Citation After watching Day of the Jackal again, I think I spotted a Maserati Mexico in the scene where French intelligence is watching film footage of Wolenski.

VeloceIt is definitely a 101 Giulietta Spider. The original Giulietta was a 750 series with a shorter wheel base, and no vent windows. There was an updated \"101\" series in 59 or 60. The Giulia 105 series was introduced in 63 for the sedan (Berlina) and coupe, the biggest change was the addition of a 1600 cc engine. The Spiders were called Giulias but continued as 101 series, with a Hood scoop to clear the 105 engine. The only real difference between a 101 Giulietta Spider and a 101 Giulia Spider is the engine, hood, and somewhere along the line they started installing front disc brakes, moving the 13\" drums to the rear. All Giulias were offered with 1300 or 1600 engines. The Giulietta thing started as a play on Romeo & Giulietta in the 50\'s. Giulietta means little Giulia, so when they went to the \"big\" car in \'63 they dropped the \"little\" and the cars became Giulias. The 105 Spiders started with the Duetto in 1966, the car used in the Graduate. I had 2 \'65 Spider Veloces, which looked identical to the above except for the hood scoop. My car is a 101 chassis with a 121 engine and some 105 front suspension parts!!! See: Link to "www.automobile-catalog.com" /make/alfa_romeo/spider_tipo101/giulietta/1960.html

dartissimus ENIts an Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider, type 105, year 1963 to 1966. Early ones were 1300cc, later ones 1600cc.
I know this because I'm hoping to buy one in the next few days.
It was the predecessor to the Spider as featured in the Graduate.

Huehnerbaron DEConcerning cars one of the best movies ever. I also remember Fiat 500, Peugeot 204 and 504, Renault 8, 12 and 16, Volkswagen T 1 and - in an italian sequence - several Lancia buses.

Did anyone ever notice that the vehicles in the movie fit well to the year of making (1973), but NOT to the year of plot (1963)?

Hors serie N°55 :/
