Weasel1984 ![]() | FA chassis, 1600 was the smallest with this cab/trim. 1970+, if plate doesn't say something different. | 2015-07-26 18:05

dsl ![]() | I think this is a 1970-74 Mk2 2.5 PI (see badge on vinyl-covered rear pillar). Later versions of the 2500 (S/TC/PI) had different grille highlights and wheel styles. | 2010-09-30 21:31
meguro ![]() | The KH250 appeared in 1976. This is a 1972 S1 250. The red one is a 1972 S2 350. | 2009-11-26 21:44
Richard Davies ![]() | Rootes / Chrysler UK used the Sunbeam name for non sporting models in many export markets. I remember seeing a pre 1976 Sunbeam Avenger in Rhodes many years go. | 2009-08-13 22:33
Richard Davies ![]() | I was also wondering how good a DAF was as a police car, considering that the combination of small engine & CVT gearbox wouldn't make it very good for chases. | 2009-08-13 22:30
Bebert ![]() | Pour moi, c'est plutôt une 2500 TC de 1973. Elle n'a pas de badge "Triumph" sur le capot à gauche, mais elle en a un (2500 TC) au milieu de la calandre. | 2009-04-25 14:13
Animatronixx ![]() | Woodall Nicholson occasionally used the DS420 like a model name in their advertising, but I think it's OK to put it in the chassis code field. "Daimler Hearse" is indeed the most common expression for these. Just for completing Sunbar´s list: Alpe & Saunders also did DS420 hearses, but probably not many. In my estimation Woodall Nicholson/Stratstone, Startins and Wilcox/Eagle cover more than 95% of the DS420 funeral coaches. |

rpcm ![]() | About the ones based on the Majestic Major - the DR450s - I also had some doubts about their correct designation, but a period "Autocar - Road Test" I found on ebay.com also calls them just Daimler Limousine. | 2008-12-10 02:18
DynaMike ![]() | Merci, Antoine ![]() |

Sunbar ![]() | Yes, a contemporary advertisement states the Daimler Hearse "....based on the new Daimler DS420 chassis built to special order".![]() Most were built by the following * Woodall Nicholson later merged with Coleman Milne * Thomas Startin Jr. * Eagle Specialist Vehicles, Wilcox Limousines |

antp ![]() | Done for the limousine... what about the hearse? "Daimler Hearse [DS420]" ? | 2008-12-09 22:34
Sunbar ![]() | Yes we could. Looking at it further it appears to be a natural progression of the Daimler model numbers that Jaguar did not actually to use. It replaced the Daimler designed DR450 Limousine and I think renaming those or older models is not acceptable. |

rpcm ![]() | Yes and by the length of the rear badge I would say it's a petrol-engined model. | 2008-12-09 18:51
rpcm ![]() | It's a [P6B]. | 2008-12-09 18:50
Sunbar ![]() | I think that was common in the UK also. All brochures and handbooks refer to it as "Daimler Limousine" and DS420 is not mentioned. In the 1970s and 1980s they were commonly known as the Daimler Limousine (or "Limo" as shortened name) within Jaguar at Browns Lane, Coventry. ![]() If it was to change to Daimler Limousine [DS420] for all listings I can see no problem other than how it was to be done. |

DynaMike ![]() | The've had also Daf 600 and 33, though usually Dutch Police used Volkswagen Beetles. Only in The Hague they usually had Mercedes-Benzes and in Rotterdam they drove US cars. | 2008-12-09 17:04
johnfromstaffs ![]() | What would the police catch in a DAF 44? I know a lot of people ride bikes in Holland but that's ridiculous! | 2008-12-09 17:00
chris40 ![]() | ... or a Mercedes-Benz LE 306? | 2008-12-09 15:24
DynaMike ![]() | The ambulance (1/) looks like a Hanomag-Henschel. | 2008-12-09 15:13
DynaMike ![]() | With the central moulding and the badge on the bonnet this is a 1970 Mk.III. | 2008-12-09 15:06
DynaMike ![]() | 1969 (license plate) 1300 (or 1500). Since we often give the names like Bubbla, Fusca, Beetle etc. in the extra info, I'd say we should add 'Kever' here as well... | 2008-12-09 14:57
DynaMike ![]() | 1965 by the license plate. | 2008-12-09 14:50
DynaMike ![]() | The dashboard with round clocks belongs to a TS version, 1968+. Edit: By the chrome of the taillights, just visible in the main pic, it's a 1971+ model. -- Last edit: 2008-12-09 14:48:37 |

DynaMike ![]() | 1972, by the license plate. | 2008-12-09 14:41
DynaMike ![]() | 1972 by license plate. It's a sedan, not a hatchback, well visible on the 5th thumbnail. | 2008-12-09 14:37
DynaMike ![]() | This grille indicates a 1971-1973 model indeed. The license plate says 1972. I'm not sure wether it will be possible to tell the difference between 1602, 1802 or 2002 though. | 2008-12-09 14:35
DynaMike ![]() | License plate indicates 1970. As far as I know this car was sold in Holland as 'Daimler Limousine'. Maybe we should move [DS420] to chassis code field? | 2008-12-09 14:31
DynaMike ![]() | The dark Daf in the thumbnail will be a 44. The white car could be a 44 or 55, as both have been used by the Police. But with the details that are visible here I cannot find the difference If there would be a shot of the taillights or the front, it would be quite easy. Also a shot of the housing of the dashboard clocks would help (and the second thumbnail is very close to that!): one rectangular housing for the 44, two rounded for the 55. |
2008-12-09 14:24 | ||
DynaMike ![]() | I think (by the simple chrome side strip) that this is a 1971 model, the last year that the Imp was available here. Since 1968 or 1969 the Imp was only sold under the Sunbeam name in Holland. Before, we had Hillmans, Singers and Sunbeams... Does the Sunbeam name make this 'Made for NL' ? -- Last edit: 2008-12-09 14:19:46 |

DynaMike ![]() | The 3p was the hatchback version that didn't exist yet in 1973. This is a 1971+ Sport Coupé. | 2008-12-09 13:56
