rpcm PTIn the May 1972 issue of the French magazine "L'Automobile" I found an ad from C.A.R. accessories that seems to match the kit sported by this Mini. The same magazine also shows the range of Austin/Morris Minis: the 850 was available in a more basic version (perhaps similar to the UK one) called de Luxe and also a Super de Luxe; the 1000 was only available as Super de Luxe.
In this case, I suppose the chrome trim in the window seal identifies a Super de Luxe (I think the basic 850 didn't have it).

dsl SXIs it really an S and not just an ordinary (yellow) one with 4 lights?? S should have big outer lights as here /vehicle_58649-Renault-8-S-R1136-1969.html and like Gordini 1300 as /vehicle_3603-Renault-8-Gordini-R1135-1967.html . This looks like small lights to me. 2014-10-15 01:15

DynaMike NLColour does look like Brun écorce, which was indeed only available in 1969. But an ID from 1969 would have had a white roof and black plastic indicator trumpets, and it wasn't available with a red interior.
Apart from the colour I would rather say this is a 1970/71 DSuper (small hubcaps, painted roof, stainless steel indicator trumpets, badge on the boot lid...). But then, there seems to be a pre 1969 dashboard (black and grey). Mystère...

Indeed it is a 1600.

rpcm PTI think perhaps Bref could help in this case. I know there were several firms making them - as this 1965 ad shows - and, for the obvious reasons, they were very popular in big cities (like Paris). Although being an aftermarket accessory, I agree they could have been ordered at the dealership when buying the car, but as an optional item. That explains the several types available, giving the possibility of a later fitting when the car wasn't ordered with them.

rpcm PTWith the help of the thumbnail is possible to see its rear lights and it's a 1970+ (BS) - I didn't notice the absence of the bonnet badge on the main pic. The 2nd car (by the date of the film it's also most probably a BS), seems to be a 1600 (on the R12 pic the bonnet seems to have the bulges) and the main pic one is a 1400. The headrests were optional.

dsl SXGiven that almost all Minis in F from early 60s to 80s have these extra bumper bits, I think they were made-for-F fixtures, not just accessories. As a total theory I wonder if Mk3 1000 had them fitted as standard, but 850 did not. The early Mk3s we have in F without the bumpers(under both 850 and 1000, and with or without Austin) are mostly that 70-72-ish orange. 2014-10-14 00:11

Car chase! And many cars in (more left out) from this Côte d'Azur —sorry, French riviera— movie, full of sun and void of ideas. Mesdemoiselles Birkin and friends are quite often changing their clothes. So this can also be interesting for those interested in the out of date up-to-date.

A plane, IMPDb.org, sixcyl, Corkyandpals!

DynaMike NLColour is 'prune', interior 'gold Cordoba'. That makes it a 1965/66 model, and in 1965 only available on the longer B/BT, which I think this actually is. 2014-10-13 23:34
