squeasel wrote I believe this is the same car as used in The Day of The Jackal (see /vehicle_47247-Rolls-Royce-Silver-Cloud-III-Convertible-LSEV169-1964.html). I say this because of the monogram on the drivers door. In short, I believe it is LSEV169, Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III Convertible.

Great matchup! I just watched the first episode of The Adventurer that featured this car, and noticed the crest on the door. It did seem familiar, though I don't know if I would have matched it to "The Day of the Jackal". Stands to reason as these two productions were filmed in the same area circa 1972.

Raul1983 wrote IMDB episode listing is incorrect so I will list episodes according to the DVD disc set.

Episode given by Raul have no link with the wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventurer_(TV_series)#Episode_list).
Not surprising as DVD publisher often changed the order of the episodes.
Only full titles should be used as reference :

So when you read : The Case of the Poisoned Pawn, this is not Ep. 22 but Ep. 21 !

For ex. the Citroën K 350 (given to be from Ep. 5) is really seen on "Poor Little Rich Girl" (Ep. 2) as read on the title screen.
Ep. 7 is in fact from Ep. 6 "Counterstrike" / Ep.11 is really #10 "Has Anyone Here Seen Kelly?".

What else ?

From The Not-So Merry Widow (Ep. 18), a petrol tanker hidden by the jet engine :(
Nice quizz isn't it?

nibelung wrote Not 100% certain that is my old car, but it could be!

My car did not have any wing mirrors in my time, never mind odd ones. Also, my car had a rear view mirror on the dash board, though I did use a high level stick on one at some time.

My car was a 1959, 3.4 SE, the same type that killed Mike Hawthorn. Its registration number was UKV 668.

I bought the car for £300 in July 1964. It had been owned by a pilot who lived near East Grinstead.

In March 1966, I put an advert “For Sale” in the window and parked it in front of my house. We were then living on the A3, almost opposite the old KLG spark plug factory in Roehampton Vale. Being on such a busy road, even in those days, a lot of people saw it, and quite a few stopped.

One of those who stopped was an agent for a company that hired cars to film companies. I just wanted to sell the car, so I passed on the agent’s card to the new buyer, who lived in Arundel Terrace, SW13.

The agent told me that the scene showing the Jaguar going over the cliff at Betchworth had already been shot, which would tie in with what other people have said. This car, I was told, was originally grey and had been hand painted to make it look more conspicuous when going over the cliff. I was also told that it was ‘an old heap’, so not a lot of money was wasted! Some years ago, I met a man who had salvaged some parts from this car.

In September 1966, the first of a new Saint series started on either Sunday 4th or Sunday 11th September; it was called The Queen’s Ransom. A white Jaguar appeared at the end, driven by the bad guys. It was clearly right hand drive, but I had to wait another 20 years to stop the video and check the scratches with some photographs. The scratches confirmed that the bad guys had used my old Jaguar, UKV 668.

Doubt remains in my mind about the Jaguar shown above with the odd wing mirrors. My Jaguar was used in The Saint without any doubt, but I leave it to others to decide about the one above.

Awesome story! I know "The Saint" episode well!

Quite the car, Geoff!!! The car certainly outshines the actor big time!! It seems rather inappropriate transport for the geriatric-looking and heavyset Gene Barry. Yes, Corvettes did have a reputation of an older crowd following, but he seems WAY too old and fat (let alone uncool) to be traveling around in this. I bet he had a hell of a time with ingress and egress, as well as the experience of road undulations on his back.

sixtiesswing USOh man!!! My life would be complete circa 1972 had I Catherine Schell with a Camaro Rallye Sport!!! Nothing hotter than a smokin' babe with a muscle car, and who knows how to handle it! But she would have been literally robbing the cradle as I was only one at the time!!!! 2021-11-06 19:07
sixtiesswing USI actually like ITC / Lew Grade productions, but honestly, not a fan of the "wooden" Steve Forrest, and much, much less of Gene Barry, who looks like a heart attack waiting to happen. A red second gen Camaro is SO un-him....trying to be hip, but squarer than Trafalgar in London. I never think of one of these cars having a 90-year-old, short, burly man as the original contempory owner. I'd watch this show because Catherine Schell is a TOTAL knockout, game over. Too bad Stuart Damon was apparently run off the show by Barry because he might have been worth watching. But I'm sure that his star would have risen somewhat and then they could have written the old guy out....maybe crashing his car over a cliff. Being ITC, it would be a white Jaguar Mark I or a red Renault. ("No, Gene, don't get into that white Jag!!! No, please Gene!!! Your life is in danger!!")

"The Protectors" was one good ITC show with an American star. I bought the DVDs and watched every episode and enjoyed it. Robert Vaughn allegedly was not happy working with Gerry Anderson, but I don't think it is apparent. But The Protectors is another entry!!! And lots of cool cars to boot!!!!

dsl SXNMK 76 was an early 1963 plate, so normally would not match a Jag Mk1. If it was WRP 344 as claimed on Link to "www.randallandhopkirk.org.uk" , it was a July-Sept 1960 issue, again too late in normal circumstances for a Mk1 - see /vehicle_62427-Jaguar-MkII-1960.html . However UKV 668 (May-July 59, "Home Delivery Export Scheme" and possibly a factory registered Coventry combination) would match a Mk1 from final few months production before Mk2 launch in Sept 59, and as a 3.4 SE (^^) was the top Mk.1 spec. 2017-02-15 19:37
Sunbar UKOther than to say its before 1970 when Harrods started using BMC JU250 vans no further information found, but agree with FG 1½Ton or Austin/Morris LD.

It does appear to have a LD front bumper and over-riders which was also used on this 1965 Morris FG 1½Ton Pantechnicon

Wheelbases were, LD Van 100", with the FG being 109" and 114".

To achieve the most likely identification (until another sighting is possible) I would say a longer wheelbase than the LD, so 1968 BMC FG 1½Ton Harrods Van, preceeding the BMC JU250 van.

abctelevision UKThere is an excellent article on the Randall and Hopkirk Declassified site about the infamous 'White Jaguar' footage:

Link to "www.randallandhopkirk.org.uk"

This was originally filmed in late 1965 for an episode of The Baron called 'Something for A Rainy Day': /vehicle_62427-Jaguar-MkII-1960.html, but the footage was deemed so expensive that it was used again many, many times in other productions... I gather that The Saint episode 'The Queen's Ransom' featured UKV 668, filmed on the Stwlan Dam in North Wales. That was apparently filmed in March 1966: /vehicle_49197-Jaguar-MkI-1957.html

The registration number of the one in this episode was probably NMK 76, according to sources online.
