DidierF ![]() | We should take note somewhere that this tank is posing as a French tank. (Side note for supplementary comment: this tank, among others, was not only posing for the film, but preparing—a few hours later—for Houari Boumédiène coup, on 19th of June, 1965.) -- Last edit: 2015-08-20 04:11:10 |

Calum_B ![]() | ^ I thought it was a 109" at first impression, and now I look closer I can see the rooflight in the middle of the top rather than at the back. And I think I can kind of see the middle galv strip on the screen, but as you say, it is very hard to see! | 2008-01-09 18:04
Alexander ![]() | It is definitely a 109" Station Wagon. The side mounted search lamp hides most parts of the front door window, but if you look closely you can see all three windows. I am not sure if it really is a one-piece windscreen. It might just be a trick of the light. I think I can still make out the middle strut ... but perhaps this is just my imagination. Anyhow, it would be nice if it actually were a Carawagon conversion. |

Calum_B ![]() | That's definately a station wagon, and looks to be an 88" as said. What is interesting to note is the one-piece windscreen, which was a popular mod in the 90s, but the only thing I can think of in 1966 is when Carawagon offered the one piece 'panoramic' 'screen as an option on their Land Rover conversions. (of course it is possible that it is a mod, but I highly doubt it) -- Last edit: 2008-01-05 16:43:21 |

Gag Halfrunt ![]() | sixcyl, this web forum has some recent photos of Algiers you might be interested to see, including the casbah and the waterfront. I think I can recognise some of the streets from the film. http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=387850 |

| 2007-01-15 09:51
sixcyl ![]() | Excellent historical film. It's amazing because all the scene are reconstitutions with actors and extras (Algiers city people)filmed with many accuracy as if it was a documentary... the only bad point is about some vehicles which are not in phasis with the story of this battle (1957) Nice pics of Algiers where I lived when I was kid (1967-1970) ... a beautiful city ![]() ![]() Quai de la Pêcherie ![]() Unité d'habitation of LeCorbusier ( immeuble 'L'habitat') as there are many others in the world ![]() |
