summer20 ![]() | In a scene from the middle to the end of the movie this scene was actually performed. Belmondo is going with Françoise Dorleac in a jalopy towards Brasília and behold, in the middle of the way, they come across the Aero Willys stopped on the side of the road with a flat tire. Electrifying scene, Belmondo descends from the jalopy in motion and immediately takes the wheel of the Aero Willys, rushing out with the poor Brazilian car still with the flat whitewall tire being forced to the wheel twisting with the flabby rubber! Then, without stunts, Belmondo makes a maneuver and makes the car fall into an abyss. Real scene and with the car really destroyed. -- Last edit: 2022-08-18 16:58:08 |

bob dieck ![]() | Location seems to be Rua Jardim Botânico, in the sidewalks of Parque Lage. The wall is still there, altough we cannot see those hills, because there are lots of new buildings. The building is the Clube Militar, now green walls. -- Last edit: 2014-01-09 20:39:54 |

bob dieck ![]() | I still live in Santa Teresa and in the sixties I used the tramway everyday, as any other neighbor. I am sure all 1953 Plymouth had a one piece windshield as in Link to "www.google.com.br" So that I would keep my suggestion of 1950 for the green car, and 51/52 for the white roof, which seems to be different. |

bob dieck ![]() | I found a sale advert for old SP badge in Link to "produto.mercadolivre.com.br" Compare with the Wolfsburg crest Link to "produto.mercadolivre.com.br" It is interesting that Sao Paulo badge, which was descontinued in late sixties is today very rare and cost about 200 BR$ while the remnufactured Wolfsburg crests worth 65 BR$ -- Last edit: 2014-01-09 20:05:45 |

bob dieck ![]() | The crest has the same format of Wolfsburg, but it is actually written Paulistarvm Terra Mater. No doubt this is a 1963 car and I will insert soon details about the brazillian badge to you. -- Last edit: 2014-01-09 19:47:37 |

bob dieck ![]() | You will find the eyebrows and the side frill which almost touch the rear lights. In 64 they reduce a little these frills lenght. | 2014-01-09 00:18
bob dieck ![]() | I guess on the line 2. of m.k. it is a Ford (with strange oval headlights), a Mercury 54, a Humber (I guess) and then the black Gordini and the red/white DKW-Vemag, still with suicide doors. | 2014-01-09 00:14
bob dieck ![]() | The eye brows are in the red car, a 2600 1963. Please remind the movie was delivered in 1964, so that most modern cars would be 63. | 2014-01-09 00:08
bob dieck ![]() | Willys Overland do Brasil is the correct name of manufacturer. | 2014-01-09 00:06
bob dieck ![]() | The first year with larger tailights and full window was 63. This one seems to have a large strip on belt line, so it could be a Kombi de Luxo. | 2014-01-09 00:04
bob dieck ![]() | 1963, VW Sedan. You can see the rear window hinges, which appeared on the 63' model year. In '64 the blinkers became wider, so it is 1963 for sure. | 2014-01-09 00:02
bob dieck ![]() | It is a Mack, from early fifties. | 2014-01-09 00:00
bob dieck ![]() | There are 2 Plymouth wagons, but both spotting Dodge badges and grille, as it was usual in Latin America. One (behind) is 1950, the other might be a 51. | 2014-01-08 23:59
bob dieck ![]() | It is a Simca Chambord. The rubber buttons on the bumpers are unmistakable, as well the trunk itself. | 2014-01-08 23:56
bob dieck ![]() | Location is the Belvedere on the road to Petropolis. | 2014-01-08 23:52
bob dieck ![]() | This big viaduct is the so called Perimetral which is under demolition work at present time. When it was built, 1961-62, it caused the demolition of many old building, inclusive a steel market from the 1800's, designed by Eiffel. Now is the turn to put down the viaduct. |
2014-01-08 23:51 | ||
bob dieck ![]() | Location is Avenida Atlântica, corner with Rua Paula Freitas. That particular building is still there. | 2014-01-08 23:47
bob dieck ![]() | Only in 1962 this body was changed with the adiction of 4 headlights. Location is Museu Nacional, a Portuguese colonial arsenal when it was built. | 2014-01-08 23:43
bob dieck ![]() | These wagons arrived in 1950, as far as I know. Location is the Arcos da Lapa, which was an aqueduct built in mid 1700, and became used for tramway connection between the center of the city and the hills of Santa Teresa. In the background it is the Mesbla (Mestre et Blagé) Building which was a department store with its large clock and bells. The Arcos are still preserved but the whole surrounding houses have been demolished to create a large plaza. |

fortengo ![]() | You are right... I thought it was the same car I linked in (a ’38 one) but it isn’t. Oddly, the Chevy in the picture above appears to be a ’38 model again, judging, at least, by its radiator. |
