Gag Halfrunt a écrit The 2CV, the Ford Vedette and the architecture in "Baghdad" make me wonder if is is really stock footage from a former French colony. There are trolleybus wires visible, and according to https://transphoto.org/ there were trolleybus networks in Algiers, Oran, Tunis and Casablanca.

Agreed the pictures are in Algiers.

johnfromstaffs ENThere were various versions of this car, plus the lengthened ones.

1800 Type 18T. 4,000 built 1946 to 48
2000 Type TDA 2,000 built 1949
Renown MkI Type TDB 6,501 built 1949-52
Renown MkII Type TDC 2,500 built 1952-54
Renown Limousine 190 built 1951-52 (MkII and limousine are longer wheelbase.)

Apart from length, they are almost indistinguishable one from the other.

johnfromstaffs ENThe plate suggests 1958 registration date.

We tend to go with numerical order, so it will be close to the end of the series.

johnfromstaffs EN“With its full title of Consul Classic 315.....but the British public quickly abbreviated it to “Classic”.....”

Michael G D Allen “British Family Cars of the Early Sixties” Guild Publishing 1989 Page 70.

No mention is made of the Capri 335, except to say that the author considers it to be a sporting rather than family car.

This is a 1340cc car, the 1500cc engine was not introduced until August 1962.

dsl SXI've no idea - Sebring site as linked knows far more than I do about Frogeyes, so if they can't solve it ... I don't know of any actual Sebring Sprite which looked like this, which is weird and not particularly pretty. 2021-01-05 23:43
dsl SX3758 RK was late 61. 315 or not 315 debate never properly tied down - example - I tend to think not used in UK, but export only, but I've got bogged down with this before. My guess is we should only have two at most of the three clusters - Consul Classic/Consul 315/Consul Classic 315 - we currently have. If someone wants to try to resolve this, watch out for the related question of Consul Capri with/without 335 which is lurking alongside in the long grass. 2021-01-05 23:29
johnfromstaffs ENCounty Borough of Croydon 7/61 to 7/62.

315 was used, but not in the badging, because the bigger Consul Mk2 was referred to as the 375. IIRC they were known as just Classic.

This is an unusual 2 door Standard trim saloon.

Citation News ~ January 2016 :
"that registration 1770 PQ has never existed. It is most likely to have been 1770 PO, issued in West Sussex between March 1959 and December 1960. Correlation puts it around July 1959. There is no current registration at DVLA. An enquiry to the West Sussex Records Office in Chichester might reveal the name of the first registered keeper".

"May have originaly been an Aleaxander (bonnet), but looks a lot like this "Walker" front avaibale through Speedwell Engineering here in the US".

From here.
