DidierF FRIt could even be a [R2057], Bruno58, isn't it?

To me, the most probable is [R2067] : Viêtnam and date of production of the film.

Gag Halfrunt wrote The city locations are really in Saigon, though.

In that case Veturiloj will be right: 1950+ Simca 8-1200 Berline :)

Gag Halfrunt UKThe IMDB says the studio work was done at Cinecittà, so perhaps the crash scene was filmed on location in Italy.

chris40 UKI don't think so, Mike. Firstly, the top rail of the screen looks too shallow; secondly, I think it's being a ringer for the Hillman convertible. 2011-03-23 21:42

Continuity 2:
Audie Murphy (The Quiet American) and Michael Redgrave (Thomas Fowler) are in the Hillman Minx Phase IV and are attaked by the 'bad boys'. They leave the car and run away.

DynaMike NLIndeed, Veturiloj, it looks like a Simca 8, but since the filmimg location is Rome it is more probably the Fiat version.

Edit: on the other hand, most of the cars in this movie are French...

DynaMike NLNice. AFAIK Mercury didn't use a model name for the convertible, back then. 2011-03-23 17:28
DynaMike NLThe first Di Rosa prototype only had a door on the left side. The second one was very close to the production model. But this is rather a 1954+ (new 'Panhard' writing on front of the bonnet and no name on the hubcaps) Junior Roadster (no exterior door handles) with some alternations: too big windscreen, trim on the doors, new grille, bigger softtop, bigger bumpers, vent door between door and front wheel arch... 2011-03-23 17:24

pilou BEIt looks very similar to the 2 pre-series Panhard Juniors ordered by Panhard for the october 1951 Paris Motor Show and for Panhard's showroom at the Etoile to the coachbuilder Di Rossa who had realised a very first prototype in june 1951.But there are noticeable differences here : altough the windshield is as high as that of the pre-series cars ( contrary to the later juniors that had a very low one) , it is fixed whereas on early juniors it was a foldable roadster windshield .The grille is also different from the Dyna X one style. So interesting to hear comments from one of the numerous Panhardistes afficionados 2011-03-23 14:30
