johnfromstaffs ![]() | It is not easy to find definitive evidence, but as far as I can see, Alta only built 3 cars of this shape. GP1, GP2 & GP3. No cars appear to have been built for this type of racing after 1952, when Alta concentrated on supplying engines for HWM and Connaught. If it can be shown that Alta built such cars into 1954 I shall be happy to change my view. GP4 appears to have been started but not finished, (by the works), and may be the red car in the pictures. -- Last edit: 2021-09-28 09:13:22 |

Lateef ![]() | Probably modified this way to resemble a Ferrari - this one is shown frequently in its place - easy to tell the fake Ferraris apart from the real ones by the number placement. | 2021-09-27 16:43
andrepa ![]() | here an Alta 1.5 GP in 1962 with even lower nosehole, good idea of interchangeable nose it was. http://8w.forix.com/alta.html they experimented with muffler, too. |

s13a ![]() | Was digging around and came across a picture of this Alta 1.5 GP from 1954 : Flickr picture(s) by @baffalieThe side profile fits, however the nose is different (among other noticeable differences) : Maybe the nose was replaced during the shooting so that the race car wouldn't be recognized in real life -- Last edit: 2021-09-26 23:43:09 |

dsl ![]() | Looks a lot like Silverstone - huge grandstand and very wide track (remnant of former airfield) - see this Pathé 1952 Silverstone Grand Prix footage of a Formula Libre race (with older F1 cars) and the official Grand Prix (with F2 cars as run for that year's championship). | 2021-09-25 21:29
dsl ![]() | FOD 171 was Devon Dec 48 to March 49, but too early for a P4 (Sept 49+ as 75 only), but POD (March-May 54) would fit before the Sept 54 restyling with higher boot. Probably 75 as entered, but noted that 60 and 90 arrived Aug 53 to give a choice of possibles. | 2021-09-25 21:10
