dsl ![]() | Banked track suggests either Monza or Montlhéry - 1952 Grand Prix de Paris, 25 May at Montlhéry gives #36 as Gianfranco Comotti (Ferrari 166F2/50 'GP3-50' -retired), #8 Robert Manzon (Gordini T16 '16-0031' - not classified) and #4 Luigi Villoresi/Giuseppe Farina (Ferrari 500 '3' - disqualified). Seems GP3-50 was built as Ferrari EX 125 then 275 in 1950, then became 212 [0102] and then became 166 [GP3-50] "Dorino Serafini raced at Syracusa and Pau in March 1951 in a factory-entered experimental tipo 212 Ferrari which is said to have carried the customer chassis number '0102'. Ferrari historian Michael Muller believes that this 212 was the 'EX' car from 1950, as raced by Villoresi at Bremgarten in June (as a 125) and Geneva in July (as a 275). Serafini's car shared the same wheelbase and De Dion rear suspension as 'EX'. After these two appearances, Michael is confident that the 212 became the third works 166 F2 car: the 'GP3-50' that first appeared at Parc Borely for the Grand Prix de Marseille F2 race on 8 Apr 1951." from here (Note 2) |

DidierF ![]() | I think it's a Simca-Gordini, T11 1951 http://www.statsf1.com/fr/simca-gordini/modeles.aspx About this one, I'm not sure it's the same: ![]() the scoop seen on the left of the hood coud make it a T15. Any idea, someone? Would it deserve it's page, since it's rather seeable, and maybe not of the like on main pic? |
2015-06-11 18:18 | ||
DidierF ![]() | About the main pic, it's on of the last images of the movie, before "Fin". And the scene is quite reminiscent of the penultimate sequence of Rendez-vous de juillet but here, with a happy resolution. -- Last edit: 2015-06-11 18:05:10 |

| 2013-06-10 18:17

pilou ![]() | This is the 1935 Bugatti unblown 4.5 litres dohc single seater racing car international formule build on a 59 chassis as driven before the war by Wimille and Benoist .It was engaged in a speed trial on the Monthléry tract in 1937 but Wimille could not beat Dreyfuss's Delahaye unblown 4.5 litre.The Bugatti would have been rebodied and fitted with a 4.7 liter engine after the war and reentered as from 1945 at the Bois de Boulogne races under the type designation 50B. | 2010-05-16 15:14

sixcyl ![]() | Agreed, and it has the "Toit ouvrant arrière" spécific to the taxi version. | 2010-05-13 23:55
DynaMike ![]() | I'm pretty sure (grille and very low windscreen match) and yes, it owns its own page |
2010-05-13 23:45 | ||
DynaMike ![]() | OK, but still it will be an L: the distance between rear door handle and rea fender is too big and the roof is too high for a 'normal' 402... I don't think we see the metallic spare wheel cover, since that would have been round and what we see here is not round at all. Maybe an aftermarket accessory? | 2010-05-13 23:44
sixcyl ![]() | I've thought about a B at first, but I cancelled this option. The grill is a 402 type not 402B, the boot should be thicker from that angle, I think it's the spare-wheel cover that we see not the "malle bombée" , and at last, a 402B should have "roues pilotes"... so i've changed my mind, and consider it as a 402, maybe a L, but not sure. Of course many taxis used the L rather the normal 402. | 2010-05-13 23:39
DynaMike ![]() | I'd go for a Cranbrook [P-23]. | 2010-05-13 23:39
DynaMike ![]() | An 'L' indeed. But here the grille seems to be from a 1939 B-series, whereas the rear belongs to an older 402... ??? | 2010-05-13 23:36
DynaMike ![]() | By the shape of the rear doors I'd say this is a long version. By the extended bootlid this should be a 1939 402 BL, but the grille belongs to an older 402... ??? | 2010-05-13 23:34
sixcyl ![]() | Are you sure, if so, it worth its own page, don't you think? -- Last edit: 2010-05-13 23:33:20 |
