dhill_cb7  | @pchetv I will try and keep my posts down when pulling plate date. Sorry I upset you. However, plenty of other members post the plate data. It just so happens today I wanted to finish this series instead of leaving off mid-series and then trying to figure out where I left off at a later time. However, adding spoilers to the data is counterproductive as any admin could come along and revert an entry not looking at the spoiler tag. Plus if you add a spoiler you cannot use the search feature to pull similar vehicles in the same movies (for instance if you search by the VIN or plate data). I use the search feature a lot when trying to link up cars that are in the same movies by the plate data. (Alex_dj added a few vehicles within the last few years that the same truck was literally in a half dozen or more movies and the only way I could link them all up was by the plate data). If the spoiler tag was added we would not be able to pull the details as they would be hidden from the search as far as I know. Moving forward I will try and refrain from posting a lot of data OR I could just post place holder comments to edit at a later date to avoid filling up the first couple comment pages. Also, none of are paid admins. We are all volunteers, myself included. |

| tore-40 | They were quite popular as grey imports - the registration makes one possible firm pop up Registered as a truck (with speed limit 80 km/h and 'MOT' once a year) they were avoiding the heavy import taxes for a car with this size and engine. They would have to remove any US lamps (sealed beams, side markers or any lamps visible from the side, non-E approved units) and then add side repeaters and rear reflectors, even mudflaps as this was a truck. This was done locally at the dealer. Then the trucks were individually approved at the local 'DMV' I think the springs were upgraded as well - at least the springs could be 'downgraded' on many of these as you could later reregister as a 'personbil' (a normal car) at a much lower price. When a speed limiter was later made mandatory (as you could cruise at highway speeds with almost no risk of speed tickets, looking like a normal car) and the loop hole (downgrade) was closed, the demand for these trucks was gone over night @dhill_cb7, direction indicators may have a neutral appearance but must omit amber light front and rear. Only the luxury Cheyenne and top-of-the-line luxury Silverado received these appointments. Silverado had an extra splash of brushed aluminium around the instrumentation, air conditioning vents, and climate controls. The 1977 model year was the last model year for wood grain inserts. The 1978 model year saw the introduction of brushed aluminium. |
