zodiac  | @ingo: One can use different approaches to make a statement, mine is rather technical. I'm well aware of the big buisness it has become of the classic cars. Rather sad to my point of view as it prevents them being used as cars rather than objects. I once saw a figure of around (I believe it was) EUR 1.500.000 for a 300 SL, that is for an UNRESTORED one! I believed it was because nobody knows nowadays how they used to look like as all of them (well, apart from one...) has underwent numerous renovations, where some original features is bound to get lost each time. | ingo | @zodiac, @dsl: don't overrate the question, if everything is original or not  Especially the exorbitant overpriced mass-clunker Mercedes Pagode is notoriously known for uncountable amounts of cobblework. Not unlikely, that it was an US-spec, fiddled after its re-import back to the European version.It looks repainted and they even make (fake?) a crash with it, so it's definitely not in mint condition. | zodiac | @dsl: As far as I know, the W 113 has had reversing lights all the time. E.g. it can be seen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBT0OWKOlLc (at roughly 1.00 min). The indicator lights on the other hand is slightly more difficult as it depended on the markets where the car was sold. But there's always a problem with older cars as easily available parts might have been changed and cars that might look easily judged are not. According to sls-hh Link to "www.sls-hh-shop.de" the wider indicators was introduced in February 1969, but if 1969 MY it should have had wheel covers, bigger door rear view mirrors, black inside rear mirror and a whole array of safety features. As none of those features is apparent I believe it's a pre 1968 MY (280 SL), perhaps even pre 1967 (250 SL), that is a 230 SL. If looking at production numbers it's more likely a 230 SL (19.000 built) than a 250 SL (5.000 built). -- Last edit: 2015-12-28 19:48:36 |
