motorsrich UKWonder where it is now, its a nice low mileage car according to its mot history, add to that a spot of fame should make this car a worthy future classic.

dandanknight UKThis is my old car, I scrapped it in a scrapyard near Kings Langley/Watford UK in about 2004/05.

It had quite an interesting life this motor, it originally was owned by Sir Geraint Evans, then by an old Army Major (Major Batty if I remember correctly), then I bought it at around 215,000 miles. It died in Soho at around 285,000 miles some years later, and some months after that it found its way from the scrap yard I dropped it of at, to being blown up on Brainiac! I remember seeing the episode first time round and have tried a couple of times to find the episode with no luck, then stumbled across this site! Thank you!

Here's the YouTube clip if anyone is interested....

ingo DEFor sure. In Germany specific coachbuilds for ice cream-van aren't common, resp.I've never have heard/seen anything about such a conversion. Many conversions for all kind of uses were/are built here, but never anything for ambulant ice cream-sellers.
At least all ice cream-vans in Germany are converted former parcel-transporters of the Post, mainly the VW T3 with the higher plastic roof and the walk-through-possibility.

ingo DEIn German we call cars like that "Schiffschaukelbremserkarren", literally translated "swingboat-brakeman's cart" ;)
And there are more nasty and racistic names for the other species of fans of such cars -very especially for pimped BMW 3 Series Convertibles and Coupés- : younger lads with a Turkish immigration background.

skilleter ENI chose two of these in succession as compny cars, 1979 to 1983. The car shown has non- standard wheel trims. The later ones had 'colour keyed' plastic bumpers. I liked mine, though was fed up with it by the time I got rid of the second one. It was surprisingly fast despite a rather small '1400' engine- though a bit noisy. The front wheel drive was still rather uncommon at that date. It was up against the Ford Cortina which was the best selling British car of the time but boring! The hatch back idea was then quite a modern feature- and useful, since I then had a young family. 2010-03-19 15:48

antp wrote It was decided long time ago that we would not use the "made for" for LHD/RHD.
This "made for" was to inform the visitor that the name or the style of the car is different due to the fact that it is made for another country (e.g. special headlights, etc.)
The fact that the steering wheel is on the other side is well known I think :D Nobody would wonder why, by seeing the car
(and it would require that all UK cars in non-UK countries are labelled as "made for [something else]" if we follow that...)

Ingo DEI'd say, it will be destroyed anyhow (as all the other older cars, too)

A question: it has obviously no engine any more, other cars neither. Any reason for that?
