DynaMike NLThere was even one used as fire engine in les Landes in Western France, a region that is often confronted with forest fires. This is quite strange, since the worst thing of the Méhari was the fact that the plastic built body was very inflamabme :D
I saw this Méhari Pompiers in the Citroën museum in Castellane (near the Grand Cañon du Verdon).

G-MANN UKGood idea! I mean they made IGCD (Internet Games Car Database), surely the template of this site could be used to make an Internet Movie Aircraft Database? Would anyone be willing to run it? Antoine is already pretty busy with this site. 2008-01-13 16:34

Alexander DEThomson-CSF also produced the P4R (or P-4 R) vehicle in the former Hotchkiss works. Delivery of the Crotale system to the French Army started in 1978, possibly even before.

sixcyl FRThe first prototype P4 had been produced in1979, in Chausson plant, then in Peugeot plant. At least, when Peugeot 405 was launched, the production was moved in Marolles plant of Panhard (which is subsidiary of PSA).
12000 P4 have been produced for French Army + several others for UN

Ingo DEWhere was it filmed?

If it was made in Europe, there will be a big possibility, that the Hilux was made in Germany. This version, which was identical with the VW Taro, was assembled in the Volkswagen-Transporter-Factory in Hannover.

antp BE4x4 ? but most of these things where FWD ;)
It is a quite light off-road vehicle, only some versions were AWD.
It is because of that car that I had to rename the "4x4/SUV" category to "Offroad/SUV"

According to Wikipedia it was used by the army: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citroën_Méhari
And it seems that the version sold in USA was indeed classified as "truck" [:figti] Well, for me "truck" always remind me the heavy ones, not the light utility vehicles.

There was also one used as police car in two of the "gendarme" movies, but I do not know if the car was effectively used by the police:

badlymad CAThe AA launcher in the background is a Thomson-CSF Crotale R440 system, which consists of two parts: a launching vehicle with 4 missiles and a short-range tracking radar mounted on a P4R 4x4 chassis, and a second P4R (the one on the right) carrying a long-range surveillance radar. In French service, the Crotale has also been mounted on ships and AMX-30 tanks.
