Sunbar ![]() | There were at least two Austin 12/4 Taxis in Hollywood at the time, both came back to the UK at some time after 1951. 1930 Austin 12/4 Taxi High Lot GH 2362 here Foreign Correspondent, 1940, Waterloo Bridge, 1940 Random Harvest 1942 The Paradine Case, 1947 Royal Wedding 1951 1932 Austin 12/4 Taxi 'High Lot' Saloon [69691] VU 8765 here Foreign Correspondant 1940 Waterloo Bridge, 1940 I Married an Angel, 1942 The Locket, 1946 Royal Wedding, 1951 The taxi in "Kiss the Blood Off My Hands" from 1948, is similar enough to 'GH 2362' as to be a replica of the same taxi but based on a different chassis/front end. -- Last edit: 2023-06-22 12:55:38 |

humungus ![]() | That's Joan Fontaine on the sidewalk, as the main female character. The vehicle gives her a bit of a fright and she hides from it in that dark recess to the left of her. I suppose that makes the sweeper a two-star vehicle. The timing is 01:12:52. |

Gag Halfrunt ![]() | The taxi might have been built for a previous film and/or the scene might have been shortened when the film was edited. | 2023-06-21 23:06 | ||
Sunbar ![]() | I believe its a 'made-for-movie' London taxi (a Hollywood attempt at an Austin 12/4 taxi) based probably on another British car. The bonnet (hood) is too long for any 1930s taxi also the scuttle and windscreen design is rather basic. If so they have gone to a lot of work for less than a minute of screen time. Seeing a video the movie it looks to have wire wheels. -- Last edit: 2023-06-21 23:02:20 |

humungus ![]() | ![]() Set in the post-WWII London, this is a disappointingly plodding, improbable noir. A supremely slimy Robert Newton is by far the best thing about it. ![]() Should this be listed? There's some small/dark/blurry background stuff, too: (not the truck, and that's the same car in second/third thumb) -- Last edit: 2023-06-21 17:10:50 |
