dsl ![]() | Escort Mk1 is not really German in any significant way. It was supposed to be the first joint car project from the newly formed Ford Europe, with Ford UK and Ford Germany as joint partners, but Ford Germany had a sulk and did not play, so all design and development was done by Ford UK. Initial production was all in UK at Halewood, until LHD for Europe started at Genk in Sept 68, with no German production until 1970 when Saarlouis opened. (It was a similar story for the Transit Mk1 - supposedly a joint UK-Germany project, but Germany did not play, so it was all UK-led, with a further twist that as far as I know, Germany never built any Transits, whether Mk1 or later generations). | 2021-09-11 23:36

Weasel1984 ![]() | Strange, that offical website says 1983, I have something new - guy, who owns a vintage one, claims that his parents bought it (the 1310p) in 1982. And here is perhaps the same 1310(p) (due to 1.4 engine) from 1982, later for sale in "Lengyelorszag": Link to "www.ooyyo.pl" The question is only in what month of 1982 they arrvied for the first time, as maybe 1983 (as m.y.) can stay. If we take into consideration that 1310 was introduced at home around 1983 then for export maybe also was send since late 1982, but maybe not... -- Last edit: 2012-10-20 00:45:22 |

bondziu ![]() | I am convinced that it is the same vehicle. Both the 005 and 008 seem to have been used in both shots, which were supposed to be Cappuccino & Adolf and Kopinski being held up at two different roadblocks, but it was porobably filmed in the same area, using the very same vehicles. The only difference is that the Skoda 706RTH is added in the second shot. The equipment carried on the roof matches, the (actual!) sirnes match, too.As far as the numbers go, YT videos do not have the quality to see them clearly. Summing up, here's the order of vehicles in the column: 1) scene with Cappuccino: 005, followed by 008 2) scene with Kopinski, 008, then the Skoda, then 005 Another funny thing is that this scene is allegedly taking place in the suwalskie voivodship, whilst the so-called operational numbers numbers on the fire engines indicate that they are from warszawskie (stoleczne). When the two engines pass Cappuccino's car in this scene, you can see that the FSO ambulance which was "taking a patient to hospital" has turned off its lights & siren and stopped just a few hundred meters away Also, the smoke is not really convincing - and it is "too close for comfot" anyway. In real life, roadblocks would be set up a few kilometers away. |

Weasel1984 ![]() | The "LM" is to find at many fire vehicles websites. People claim it was listed this way in the vehicle ID. For example here. So again, the truck has been modified most probably. The round FSC badge dates back to the end of the 1970s and was in use perhaps since ca 1981. The second truck we have probably here. Can you confirm is it the same 008 or did it swap with the 005 between the shots? -- Last edit: 2012-06-09 23:42:27 |

bondziu ![]() | This is not the "M" version. It has a Rosenbauer monitor. The one in the background is a Jelcz 008 GBM 2,5/8. Also, I've never heard of a Star "P244LM", where's the "M" come from? In official materials (e.g. JZS data sheets from 1988), it's nowhere to be found. | 2012-06-09 22:10
130rapid ![]() | One car was for sure a diesel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhGOZIwNC24 Timing 40:23-41:07 and 41:17-46:00 with few shots inside also (and a lot of talking). The savage stunt scene with Mercedes (43:55-44:10) was made with rally driver Marek Varisella (he also played W115's chauffer role). He was helpful in Fiat 128 chase (ep. 03) wearing... blond hairpiece. ![]() |

blinski ![]() | I think I'm sure of everything since 1989, but before it was more mixed up than I thought.. (one detail more - since 1988 new FSO badge, more flat) | 2012-02-13 23:10
Weasel1984 ![]() | Since 1985, for export, two front ends were used - this one (for better versions) and old one (for the cheaper ones). Since 1986, mostly for export (but to meet also here), body with 3rd side window was produced. In (and since) 1986 two types of the rear wings were in use - ones with the old, "L" shaped strips, and different ones with the new, straight plastic trim. Logically would be, that the new wings were in cars with new 3rd side windows (as it was one part of the body), but it is not so obvious, I have seen Polonez without rear-side windows, but with the new shape of wings next to wheel arc... Finally in 1987, the car with this longer nose, 3rd side window and new, 1987, boot lid became the main model also in Poland (production of the old body was still continued for some time). In 1988 the front was modified a bit (it is nearly not visible at first glance, but it is inclined at an opposite angle - more "streamlined") and new front badge was intro. In 1989, as you know, I belive, the completly new rear end was introduced and from more notable things, the front wings repeaters have been moved closer to doors. -- Last edit: 2013-01-08 14:51:01 |

blinski ![]() | Ok, so Polonezes for export were fitted with this end before those for inside market were even fitted with mere rear side windows? Hm.. I'm asking because although the car was so common I still can't figure out which details and liftings come in what exact time, also which belonged to what version. -- Last edit: 2012-02-12 22:01:52 |
