dsl ![]() | Yes - I had it somewhere in the back of my mind that ES was the economy special, but it's not mentioned as an attribute in 2 listing descriptions. | 2022-02-20 16:52
Bux_48 ![]() | Thank you in this case the spoiler was part of the "aerodynamic"/optimization package of the ES (=Energy Saving) version more than a sporty addition, together with flat wheelcovers, some differences in mechanics and gear ratio, electronic ignition and an early idle engine shut off system anyway the spoiler was also available as dealer mounted option. |

dsl ![]() | UK info has 70 Comfort ES as 1299cc March 84 to May 86 only, with spoiler mentioned - not mentioned for the 85 Super which seems top luxury version with 1585cc. The only other version with spoiler mentioned is Feb 88 Antares edition based on 70 C (1301cc or 1585cc) - "Red or grey metallic paint, steel sliding sunroof, tints, full wheel covers, beige corded interior trim". Don't think this has tints and film date would mean brand spanking new, so ES fits. | 2022-02-20 14:42
Bux_48 ![]() | Yes, indeed an ES by rear spoiler, or it had different name/dates in UK, @dsl? | 2022-02-20 12:41

Weasel1984 ![]() | In fact this one will be "GS Special", they changed badges for 1979 (or in early 1979) in place of "GSpecial" it was since then badged "Special" on the left and "Citroen^GS" on the right - both letterings were on the silver strip above taillamps. Previously "GSpecial" was separate badge placed below it on the right. | 2018-04-10 22:42

amojak ![]() | Two tone gold/brown colour scheme was a special colour late in production. They seem to have an old capped wheel on the back that would not of been original for this car. | 2016-02-16 23:07
amojak ![]() | rare colour for a chevanne. Looks to be Coppertone starfire, a metallic colour that looks 'poo' brown when dirty but if polished up and clean is a sparkly copper hue. Metalic paint was additional cost so not many cash tight commercial outfits spent the extra cash. here is one of mine under gradual restoration for reference > Link to "lh3.googleusercontent.com" It isn't the same one as mine is an early 1977 model. dsl ![]() | Confirmed as ultra-poverty version - "October 1980 - Chevette ES 2-door saloon and 3-door hatchback introduced with similar specification to the E models but with even lower level of trim with vinyl trim plus carpets". Two and a half years later, another one pops up - /vehicle.php?id=876230 - "My dad had one as a company car for a year and it had plastic seats, no demister, one sun visor and the seats didn't recline. Even by the standards of 1980 this was brutal, basic transport and he hated it" |

Mr Chipsticks ![]() | This was the lowest spec of the V6 (if it was a V6) sunroof was standard on all Rover 800s, some though, like British Aerospace registered cars did not have sunroofs. The colour is known as Shantung Gold. Headlamp washers were available as an option on lower end 800s but standard on the 825i and Sterling. Its hard to tell but the wheels look like 15s rather 14s which point it to being a 825i rather than an 820. | 2013-09-01 01:15
Sunbar ![]() | Not the CF2 but 2279cc slant four petrol engine makes this a CF facelift. The 2279cc engine was on GVW/models CF250, CF280 & CF350. By November 1984 the CF2 was introduced by Bedford. Ambulance build would mean stocks of previous CF models would still being registered probably into 1985. From memory '97760' is GM Model Code for 9= Vauxhall/Bedford UK build, 7= CF, 760='350P'(Petrol). These codes imposed by GM USA by the early 1970 throughout the various model ranges but not universally adopted by overseas divisions in practice. -- Last edit: 2017-06-05 22:36:06 |
