Gamer DECan anyone add jgeanz as the owner? :hello: 2017-06-07 18:59
KowalskiThat was a nice stunt. You can clearly see, however, that they fitted a roll cage inside the Audi and welded a metal plate where the sunroof is.

This must have been a high budget film for Mexican standards, considered they destroyed a classic Plymouth and a new Audi A4.

AnimatronixX DEMust be a great fun to ride them...

Steven Mitchell (whoever that is) wrote The other form of transport is the Micro. A Micro basically a home brewed bus that is designed and built in Mexico in complete ignorance of any design or safety standards. Perhaps 30 years ago Mexico had a transport crisis and the people solved it themselves – if the government wasn’t going to fix it, they would. Enterprising individuals started the so called Collectivo’s with big old yank tanks. They mapped out a route and started to drive there and back offering people a ride for a few Peso’s. It was successful. They got more organised. They bought VW Kombi’s and rigged them up with a system of ropes and pulley’s that allowed the driver to open and shut the door from his seat. These things were really popular, but they only carry about 10 people (and you should see the rear suspension sag with 10 overweight Mexicans on board !). So some backyard mechanic had an idea …. he would build a 20 seat bus out of stuff from the wrecking yards and the hardware store. The Micro was born !!

The Micro is basically a welded frame of rectangular hollow section steel, covered with sheet aluminium pop riveted in place, with a big Chevy V8 in the front. The passenger seats are spartan, close together and definitely don’t meet any crashworthiness requirements. The driver sits up front in a heavily reclined seat (give him a break he probably spends 12+ hours a day at the wheel) and he controls this thing via a ridiculously small steering wheel and a long gear stick protruding from the floor. These buses proved so popular that a company (Havre) was started and they have produced thousands of them.

carobserver MXI find in an old magazine that model could be a 1978 Ford Fairmont Elite, for the mexican market, with luxury trim, tailights of the Mercury Zephyr and the fron grille and headlights of a Fairmont Futura.
This car is wearing the hubcaps of the normal Fairmont for the mexican market

It would be Christine's older sister, since that car was a red 58 Plymouth Fury. The movie car was red, but all 58 Furys were available only in Buckskin Beige (Eggshell White were the 57's).

Indeed, it seems that they used a modified four-door... maybe that they did not damage the one that was in good state then?
