993cc ![]() | So.. 1939-42 6C 2500 Sport /Berlinetta Touring/ https://www.coachbuild.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=1859&start=20 Link to "sportscardigest.com" Most probably a Sport-engined one as according to the following only 4 cars had the Super Sport engine option. https://kidston.com/motorcars/2500-1939-Alfa-Romeo-6C-2500-Sport/ "...Super Sport specification engine, listed in the definitive Tito Anselmi book as one of probably only four cars thus equipped originally..." <-- to be clear this is a different car. Couldn't find a video of this to get a better pic -- Last edit: 2021-12-29 00:48:29 |

Skywatcher68 ![]() | I see what happened. IMDb lists the documentary at 3 hours; however, BAFTA's John Grierson Award is for short films and History of the Motor Car was indeed nominated in '73 and Part Two won awards in '74. Looks like we have a 6-part documentary mini series with one release each year from '72 to '77 and IMDb lists all six parts under one title with the original's release year. I'm guessing the allmovie listing is a home video release with all six together. -- Last edit: 2019-06-18 17:15:21 |

dsl ![]() | Dates on pre-1929 UK plates can be dodgy - until that point every local licencing office could make up their own rules to some extent. All records were centrally collated in 1929, and we have some hiccups from that transfer. So here 1921 could be date of an ownership change or other local quirk. SE was a slow-running Banff series starting in 1904 and in Jan 1922 had reached SE 1273, so 423 issued several years earlier, maybe even before WW1. Also noted that as a colour photo, the picture may well be 1930s or later so this was an old car then, with scope for non-original fittings. | 2017-12-09 15:07 | ||

ingo ![]() | You can expect these kind of dealers in ever "Meilenwerk"-dependance. If you have this company http://www.mirbach.de/ there (as in Düsseldorf), the others try to hold with them, too. It's known in Germany for the highest prices for classic cars, although they have mainly real good stuff in their stock. |
2010-11-29 13:50 | ||
cl82 ![]() | Yes, a "specialist" who calls the car in question "Bitotor" to begin with. I've been watching these "Meilenwerk"-folks for a couple of years now. They start spreading over the whole country. Düsseldorf was their first station, then Berlin and then a couple of years ago Böblingen which is near where I live at the moment. Been there once- very elitist attitude, phantasy-prices. "Mehr Schein als Sein", but they're very successful. They always chose facilities in wealthy regions as it has become "chic" among yuppies a couple of years ago to own a classic car or a youngtimer. -- Last edit: 2014-10-23 21:58:26 |

DynaMike ![]() | He may call himself "a specialist for French and Swedish cars", but why is he selling a yellow 1959 2CV with a 1963+ dashboard? Or would it rather be a 1963/64 2CV with a pre-1960 front? Yes indeed:check the way the engine lid is kept open, impossible for a "Wellblechente" And that terrible upholstery ![]() And the grey 2CV he is selling as a 1958 AZ is in fact an AZLP |

DynaMike ![]() | Yes, it was indeed! Of course it is not an easy bread-and-butter car or an everyman's friend, and I'm not sure wether I admire the looks or hate them, but it is really an incredible experience to feel the supurb suspension (all the good things of the 2CV and DS suspension combined, and it stayed almost horizontal during fast cornering!) and I was really surprised by the power of the Wankel engine (my earlier experience was a bit of a disappointment in this regard). marklandynut ![]() | If its the one I'm thinking of it was used in a jungle expedition soon after the launch to show how rugged this new model was, and is actually a very early 1970 model.
