And talking of that, after the accession to the European Union those protectionst barriers should have been removed but actually that didn't happen especially for older cars; there was introduced a new so called first registration tax for every new or imported car (unlike in Poland, Bulgaria etc), that often for older cars is higher than the value of the car itself. That's why today you can see on the streets here a number of cars registered with bulgarian plates but with local owners. Despite I'm not convinced, that it's a real XR3i, it's obviously gone. filling paste on the front, changed door, unoriginal alloys, plus the fact, that (in Germany) the Escort was coming after Golf and Kadett/Astra (in price, reputation, reliability).
