elsch DEA US movie, so MY 1999+ 2016-03-27 17:42
ath20wj USWell this one is interesting...

Starting off, based on the body alone, it appears to be a US spec 1992-1994 SWB (short wheel base) S class.

All the MY1994 Mercedes were badged with the letter first, and the number second (example, 500SEL became the S500).

There never was a 500SE in the US, nor a SWB S500 sedan.

From 1992-1993 there was the... 300SD, 300SE, 400SE (1992 only) 400SEL (1993 only), 500SEL, and 600 SEL.
For 1994 there was the S320, S350, S420, S500, and S600 sedans.

I can't really tell if this is a LWB or SWB, but it looks like a SWB. So, this car could be a...
1992-1993 300SE
1992-1993 300SD
1992 400SE
1994 S350
1994 S320

but it is NOT a 500SE, nor a S500 assuming it IS a SWB like it looks like in these pictures.

In conclusion, I think they added the "S500" just for the sake of the movie. I vote we just name this a 1992 S class, because there's a lot of things this car could be.

Carmaker1 ENThis is a 1994 S500 or as said above, a rebadged 300SE in appearing as an SWB. 2014-10-13 16:23

blue_thunder a écrit As it's pre '94 MY, it can't be a S500 (appart from what the badge is saying). More likely a 500SE.

What are you talking about? What makes it pre-1994? And there is no such thing as a US-spec 500SE (SWB). Only LWB for US W140 V8s from fall 1992 (400SEL, 500SEL) for MY1993. The US 400SE only ran for MY1992 (9/1991-9/1992).

jettalover a écrit LX trim level wheels?

cieraguy a écrit I'm not positive but I think all LX Tauruses had alloy wheels. Also this car seems to lack the lower body cladding that the LX had. I'm thinking it's a 1993 GL. If it is an LX, it's definitely not a 1992 as those cars had cornering lights mounted on the side of the bumper cover.

oucadman a écrit This is a Deville model used by commercial car builders after the Fleetwood was eliminated in 1996. It is difficult to determine exactly what year this Deville is, however this body style ran from 1997 to 1999.

*sigh* Why is Cadillac eliminating such great well-known names like Eldorado, Deville and Brougham?

Neptune USIt had the V8, which means it also featured the full-time Quadra-Drive four-wheel drive system.

Quadra-Drive boasted the industry’s first application of dual Vari-Lok differentials, when other 4x4 manufactures were switching to high-tech 4-wheel electronic traction control to do the dirty work of transferring torque.
