| ingo | @zodiac: it's not easy to change the rims between the pre- and the post-1968 W108, because for that MY the size of wheels -rims incl.tires- was changed. IIRC also the offset and the bolt-circle ( correct translation? I cannot find the English word for "Lochkranz") became different.The US-style headlights are not a big deal, they are easily changeable and were after the introducion an optional extra at Mercedes Benz. Many W108-owners had changed them afterwards. Some, because they wanted to have the 6.3-look, but many due he reason, that the light yield of the double round H4-lights is much better than of the oval Bilux-gloom. |

| zodiac | It seems that there're several types of alloys http://forum.mercedes-benz-clubs.com/viewtopic.php?t=17820 . The car in question is a 1968+ 280 SE, because of the side rear view mirrors, the U.S. headlights (available for the European market from the introduction of the W 109 300 SEL 6.3) and the newer grill.
