ingo DEWell, this is the problem for every language, that puns are hardly translateable. 2015-01-02 06:59
chicomarx BEI seem to recall on German tv you could select the original audio track besides the standard dubbing - not possible anymore.
Subtitles aren't ideal either, they skip details and often misinterpret things.

"Das meinen sie doch nicht ernst?!"
"Doch das meine ich und nennen sie mich bitte nicht Ernst."
is how they solved the joke problem... :D

I worry that you're not getting the full effect.

Yes, the "shit hit the fan"-scene is clumsily dubbed, as the "let's take some pictures", too. Well, this is the problem for us Germans, that all foreign productions are always dubbed. Subtitles are generally destested and rarely to find over here.

Seriously, for the German dubbing of /movie.php?id=1064932 the translators have created extra an own kind of dialect. As our English became better in the last years (mine, caused by IMCDb, too :) ) my wife and me watch some series or movies in the original version (DVDs with two soundtracks), for example our actual favourite /movie_1475582-Sherlock.html Of some, as /movie.php?id=80306 there are no dubbed versions available as DVD.

But sometimes the dubbed version is better than the original. The best example is /movie_66701-The-Persuaders!.html
No kidding, the German dubbing-maker got the originals by the producer with the words: "This is terrible shit. Neither the British, nor the American people want to see it. We got it nearly for free, make with it, whatever you want." - and he did well. I've read, that this series is popular in France, too, because the French dubbing is based on the German version.

P.S. The DEFA in the DDR made a much better dubbing of /movies.php?titleMatch=1&title=olsen&yearMatch=0&year=&movieType=-1 (of the Danish originals, the Norwegian versions were AFAIK never shown in Germany) than the West Germans. So for that reason the Olsen-Bande is still very known in Eastern Germany, while in the West they stay unknown. I know them only, because where I grew up, we could watch the two DDR-TV-programmes.

aolju ESFound it, look at the second picture in Modell's comment: /vehicle.php?id=42126 It looks like a made for movie rocket car. 2015-01-01 11:21
aolju ESBy the one-star rating and the quality of the image compared to the other pictures on the same series, I guass this is a shot from another movie (like the characters from this one are watching it on TV or something), so we just have to find the movie to identify the car. I remember seeing this jump somewhere on Youtube. I think it appeared in a chase scene as a "stunt-double" for a Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am, if I remember right, and it jumped from one side to the other of a broken bridge. Can anyone remember where that was from? 2015-01-01 11:16
