Lee3472 ![]() | Agreed on the bodywork but it's definitely NOT a Leyland Leopard....look at the floor traps, they're there for a reason..... it is something with a rear engine, maybe a Bristol RE, too new for a Leyland Panther, possible AEC Swift, but Crossville (Welsh company) had loads of Seddon's with this type of body fleetnumbers were prefixed with SPG Single deck/Pennine/Gardner also dual purpose versions called EPGs but they would have had different seating | 2016-03-25 19:56
Sunbar ![]() | A quick look does show the 'Powerglide' automatic transmission as an option in the 1966 brochures in place of either column-change or floor-change manual gearboxes. The GM Powerglide from memory was a two speed unit that depended heavily on the torque-converter to get a barely acceptable performance. Link to "vauxpedianet.uk2sitebuilder.com" I cannot find currently, if it changed at a later date however. Later brochures mention a "super-smooth GM automatic transmission" which may still be the Powerglide box or possibly a different unit. edit: Later 1971 model year PC Viscounts were "fitted with the 3-speed 'Strasbourg' auto then in use by the parent company General Motors." -- Last edit: 2015-11-28 12:32:02 |

dsl ![]() | No - this is solid as Cresta Deluxe. Viscount had different grille - finer pattern and black infill. But it did have the same automatic option - was it really only 2-speed? My vague memory is a 3-speed which might have later become a 4-speed. | 2015-11-28 01:26
BigKev ![]() | Might be a Viscount with the awful two-speed auto? | 2015-11-28 00:56

Buc84 ![]() | Ironically, the very first RHD British car I can ever recall seeing was one of these, near Shannon Intl. Airport,1972. (Plane was stopping to refuel,we passed over a road on approach, and one of these was passing by. I recall it was Blue. Odd the things one remembers!!!) | 2015-05-23 20:00
johnfromstaffs ![]() | This model was introduced at the 1961 Motor Show. | 2015-05-20 19:58
johnfromstaffs ![]() | The hulls were manufactured by GKN Sankey at Hadley Castle Works, the mechanicals were Rolls-Royce B-series free issued to the project by MoD, and the assembly was done at the Tilling Stevens works at Maidstone, hence the choice of the "Humber" badging. /vehicle_495596-Humber-FV-1611-1960.html -- Last edit: 2015-05-21 21:38:29 |

dsl ![]() | It looks as if Pigs were only made 1959-60. The Mk2 was an upgrade conversion fitted in the 70s to existing Pigs as needed for army use. And some Pigs (FV 1611) may have been similar conversions of older FV 1601. But I'm not sure of these details - various stories online seem to differ or be a bit vague. Rootes-jewels is a broad church - it can embrace some uncut diamonds. |

DidierF ![]() | In accordance with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humber_Pig#Deployment I'm going to give MY 1960 to all Humbers FV 1611. (Rootes jewels too, dsl?) Och, nothing too precise about the Mk.II, only 'early 70s' Somebody would have a MY to give for them? -- Last edit: 2015-05-19 01:40:22 |

dsl ![]() | This is Austin or Morris 1800 Mk2 or 1800/2200 Mk3 - 6 possible permutations which for a car in this state can not be separated, even with help of this different view - /vehicle_814886.html . Most Mk2 and all Mk3 were built at Longbridge so Austin in spirit whatever the badge said, and 1800 Mk2 the highest seller - Mk3s were low volume despite extra engine choice. | 2015-05-18 22:17
