dhill_cb7 ![]() | 1994+ export wheels. [V40] as this could be a 3.0 V6 [V43W] or the larger 3.5 V6 [V45W]. I cannot make out the rear output after V6. Plate is beyond my caliber to decipher. Here is an excerpt from ebay which says the 2.8 TD & 3.5 V6 were both introduced for 1994: Link to "www.ebay.co.uk" -- Last edit: 2022-07-20 15:32:58 |

RPrior ![]() | I purchased 700 BBP in 1968 for 500 pounds, rebuilt the engine (crankshaft bearings in 1970) AND sold the car before setting sail for Australia in 1970. Less than 30 models of this vehicle specification were ever produced leading to prices at auction of over 200.000 pounds. When I owned 700 BBP, she was painted in British Racing Green, earlier John Bolster had put her through a hedge on a road test when she was painted white. dsl ![]() | Chassis AE1191/RS5000 in this list. RS5000 presumably means it got the Ruddspeed treatment, and 5000 seems to be the first prototype. If so it might explain why it does not have the Cobra-like nose which was apparently fitted to the 26 Aces with the Ford Ruddspeed engine. More 700 BBP photos here. | 2019-05-27 13:37 | ||

dsl ![]() | 9 FXD ✗ Untaxed Tax due: 01 April 1993 MOT No results returned Vehicle make: TOYOTA Date of first registration: August 1978 Year of manufacture: 1968 Cylinder capacity (cc): 1998 cc CO₂Emissions: Not available Fuel type: PETROL Euro Status: Not available Export marker: No Vehicle status: Not taxed Vehicle colour: SILVER 9 FXD was apparently one of only two 2000 GTs sold supplied to UK; first owner(s) unknown until bought by Viscount Raynham (of Fakenham, Norfolk) in 1971 until he sold it in 1995 - "Viscount Charles Raynham had his 2000GT featured in Autocar, 22 NOV 1989 and was on BBC Top Gear 2nd Mar 1995. It's a grey one and one of the 4 prototypes. He paid £1800 for it in 1971 from the showrooms of HR Owen (Ferrari, Bentley, etc.) who described it as "a rubbishy little Jap sports number". He took it to Toyota HQ Croyden to get an overheating problem looked at and then found out the true story of what he had." - http://tecclubinfo.proboards.com/thread/457 , http://oldjapanesecar.proboards.com/thread/1945/toyota-classic-barn-find-omg?page=2 The other was the 1967 Tokyo show car (chassis #10130, engine #10181), its debut appearance in final production form and one of only 2 cars factory painted in gold. Twiggy was hired as their show model, and Toyota gave her the car afterwards. After it was shipped here, she took delivery February 1968 in a publicised handover of UBY 2F in the London showroom of the newly established Toyota (GB) Ltd. However 18-year-old Twiggy did not yet have a licence. UBY 2f was then painted red and went to the US, where it was bought by Toyota USA in 1981. After a couple of restorations it is now back in the original gold and displayed at the Toyota USA Automobile Museum in Torrance, California. - https://blog.toyota.co.uk/twiggy-gold-toyota-2000gt |

On April 4 the first vehicle came off the line at the Tsurumi Austin factory, and on May 8 a commemorative launch event was held in the city with guests including the Trade and Industry Minister and the UK Ambassador." - from here.
