pansagetrent9 ![]() | That's not a VIN number, it's actually a chassis number. Chassis number starts with a "J", so built in Australia (NZ-built ones should start with an "M"). |

pansagetrent9 ![]() | Local assembly?? No, built in UK. |
2021-08-24 15:57 | ||
dhill_cb7 ![]() | Were these built in Japan or is the VIN wrong? It should be less than 17 digits prior to 1981. |
2020-12-15 19:22 | ||
dhill_cb7 ![]() | Not made for NZ. This was registered in the US prior to export. Official exports would not get registered before exporting. Imported in 1986. |

MisterZ ![]() | 1997-1999 due to updated dash and side door. 2000+ models gained a new dash again, so it rules that out. | 2018-12-05 01:35
nzmax ![]() | The New Zealand Valiant importers, Todd Motors, seemed to have "localised" the New Zealand assembled cars, with many "Chrysler by Chrysler" parts used in the VK Valiant Regal, along with the previous VJ Valiant Regal 770 also, including the armchair style Chrysler front seats, though with less opulent cloth compared to the Chrysler. | 2018-10-04 12:46
nzmax ![]() | Mazda 929 was sold new in New Zealand from late 1970's right through to the early 1990's, with all models being imported used from Japan usually around the 5-8 year old mark, and badged accordingly....Luce, Cosmo etc. |
2018-10-04 12:35 | ||
nzmax ![]() | Bumpers dont look big enough to be a New Zealand new Mazda 929. More likely a used Japanese imported Mazda Luce. Was common to replace the badges with the New Zealand new equivalent ones. | 2018-10-04 12:32

dsl ![]() | Filmed in NZ - mainly Gisborne, plus a bit in Auckland. Based on events which occurred in 2000 - the true story of Genesis Potini, a speed-chess champion who has "mental issues" but regains direction by running a chess club for disadvantaged/delinquent kids. An amazing film - in Britain we produce sentimental shite like Billy Elliot to portray similar themes - but in NZ they make real gritty stuff without trying to manipulate your emotions from a calculated filming-by-numbers template. One of the best films I've seen for a long time - maybe up there with One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, so don't expect a fluffy Sunday-night-on-the-sofa-with-a-mug-of-cocoa experience. Racer in a wall picture at Auckland chess club ![]() - early McLaren?? |
