johnfromstaffs ![]() | A while back, when I moaned about something or other, people said “why don’t you post your own films then?” Any clues here? |

Sandie ![]() | Cars. We're here for cars. This isn't meant to be a hyper realistic database of movie names, just add the title that causes the fewest problems. If there's genuine problems with what's on IMDB submit corrections to them. | 2021-03-10 16:57
Gamer ![]() | On that page I explained why I used the Russian title: it was produced by the Estonian studio by order of the Central Television of the USSR and the actors themselves speak Russian. This was the source I used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GT1DzOdEIAY it was aired on ETV2, a usually Estonian-language channel for old movies, in Russian with Estonian subtitles. If this film were Estonian, they would have used that dub, wouldn't you say? Tragically enough, it was the first one where I finally realized the mess I was making of Soviet films and decided to use the titles only when there was a real dub in that language. Look, the idea is simple if only I'll explain it: - If a film was produced in the titular language of an SSR, we use the title. Completely understandably we also add the Russian title to the AKAs. - There are cases where a film was produced by, for instance, a Latvian studio, but is only in Russian, like above. Understandably, we would list that with the Russian title. -- Last edit: 2021-03-10 16:43:21 |

Lateef ![]() | I just find it odd to submit a film with a title that differs from what is posted at IMDb without any explanation. Yes, you're explaining it in that link, but who's got the notion to backtrack what you said on one specific movie page? The pseudo-nationalistic remark was merely meant as satirical, if you didn't appreciate it, I apologise. | 2021-03-10 16:16
Dmitry_P ![]() | I have already expressed my viewpoint here: /movie.php?id=428207 I also think that @Gamer's efforts to eliminate Russian titles either became a sort of obsession or he really thinks of the USSR as a con -federative state, which it was not - Soviet power was very centralized. |

Gamer ![]() | Where are you suddenly pulling pseudo-nationalistic from? I find that very accusational; I suggested title changes for Transcaucasian and Central Asian Soviet films as well. And before you say anything: /movie.php?id=2396559 -- Last edit: 2021-03-10 15:57:59 |

Lateef ![]() | Well, there's the English AKA up, so clearly someone did something, meaning my second remark is not necessarily directed towards you. However, the way I see it, is that if you've already taken this personally motivated pseudo-nationalistic Baltic title stance, it should definitely be your responsibility to inform us why you have chosen to not list the original title, and copy and paste the AKAs into a comment when submitting the film (as many non-admin contributors do), because not all validators go through the trouble of checking the IMDb page whenever a new movie is submitted. Seeing the IMDb logo next to the title is sufficient. As such, the validating admin will see the title and assume it's the right (original) one, and not realise that the IMCDb title diverges from what is headlined on the IMDb. This will result in the fact that this page will be excruciatingly difficult for any visitor or potential contributor that should attempt to add this film upon seeing that it's not listed under its original title. I'll add the AKAs (and in my opinion, the original title should be restored as the main title, but I'll leave it for now), just remember to post the original title as an AKA next time. And remember, making your own standards when submitting a film is not a good sign (I mean, remember what happened last time), so I'd advise you to think this over. On a side-note, these pictures are non-HD and will be resized promptly. Hope this doesn't cause you too much inconvenience. -- Last edit: 2021-03-10 15:53:26 |

s13a ![]() | Or something German ? It has many similarities to the late 1930s Wanderer (though, they're a bit smaller) or even Audi ( like this Audi 920 ) even though bonnet louvres don't look quite right on that one ? -- Last edit: 2021-03-10 12:55:20 |

Gamer ![]() | I of course intend to put the Russian title in the AKAs. And as you as an admin should know, I can't add alternate titles so don't blame me for that. -- Last edit: 2021-03-10 12:23:46 |
2021-03-10 12:21 | ||
Lateef ![]() | I'm sorry what? You'd rather use the alternate title from a lesser country than the original title because of your feelings? Not having the original Russian title even in the AKA list goes against the site's idea of easy navigability. | 2021-03-10 12:15
Gamer ![]() | Not just Soviet title cards, I generally don't see the point of adding them. It's nice yes, but ultimately, what use is of them? I found it so monotonous scrolling through the Ladas and only seeing Russian titles, so I decided, if there is a dub in the titular language, we should use that title. IMDb uses the Russian title, although Latvian and Russian wikipedia confirm there is a Latvian dub as well: https://lv.wikipedia.org/wiki/%22Tobago%22_maina_kursu Link to "ru.wikipedia.org" -- Last edit: 2021-03-10 12:04:33 |

Gamer ![]() | Very embarrassing mistake for the war detail-crazy Soviets - the Latvian ship is captured by a German submarine marked U 363.
