AleX_DJ ![]() | Yes I agree. I posted the sources above only for a reference. I believe that if the development is shared between Japan and overseas R&D centres AND the model is sold also in Japan, then a Japan origin should be ok. For example, in the case of the C-HR or the first two Yaris generations, or also for the Yaris Cross. In the case of the new Yaris, I'm not sure whether the European and Asian models have got enough structural differences for different origin tags (it's not the case of the GR Yaris, for sure) |

antp ![]() | Indeed, we should not too quickly change that. Of course it is fine for models fully conceived in Europe and sold only there for the most, but for the others aren't for many of these just shared developments with a part in Europe but still the main development managed from Japan? For example for the current Yaris (4th, XP210), Wikipedia mentions: As the car is slightly different in Japan than in the rest of the world (narrower in Asia) it is possible that the European office was in charge for the design of the bodywork for the European market, for example? (and all the internal stuff conceived in Japan) -- Last edit: 2023-01-08 15:33:18 |

Bux_48 ![]() | I'm not really sure would be useful to list all of those models with EU (or not Japanese) origin? Of course I may be wrong, but the manufacturer could mean that they're global models, intended since the beginning also for Europe, so with (part of) research done by the European R&D centre, or meaning that the differences between JDM and Euro models would be the result of the European imput? Or it may even be underlined that way for marketing reasons? IMHO, I'd make EU origin (or even the specific country - is the R&D center in France or Belgium?) only those ones mainly developed for EU, so Auris/Corolla wagon, Avensis, Corolla Verso and Aygo X (I believe some of these weren't/aren't even sold in Japan?), but personally I'd feel a bit weird about seeing for example the regular Yaris as EU origin (so JDM ones would be set as that too, with made for J tag)? |

Jnglmpera ![]() | Think we might have to take this to the mass model change thread on the forums ![]() Also, this is something that I was wondering for a while, but what makes a car "EU origin" instead of whatever country the R&D Center is based in (in Toyota's case I think it was France...?)? |

AleX_DJ ![]() | Wikipedia reports a list of Toyota vehicles that were designed by the European R&D: some are already known to us (we already list all the Avensis and Corolla Verso models as origin EU), other ones are new to hear but there are proofs that the informations are correct. The models for which an EU-flag could be considered are: - Toyota Yaris hatchback, excluding the 3rd generation (XP120) - Toyota C-HR - Toyota Yaris Cross - Toyota Auris 1st generation (E150) - Toyota Auris and Corolla wagon variants (E180 and E210 models) - Toyota Aygo X Some reliable sources to help an eventual discussion of this topic: https://www.toyota-france.fr/pdf/4p_toyota-en-france_08-2013_v7.pd (the publication cites also the Lexus SC, the Toyota Prius [ZVW30] and the Land Cruiser [J150] among the European R&D works, but according to the informations I've found they are collaboration works with the Japanese design teams in the first two cases and only the facelift in the case of the Land Cruiser, same for the 3rd-gen Yaris [XP120]) https://www.toyota.fr/decouvrez-toyota/groupe/centre-design-europeen (the site reports also a number of concept cars developped in Europe and some interviews to the members of the design team of the Yaris [XP210]: also in this case the work was a collaboration between European and Japanese teams, but it seems that in this case most of the work was made in Europe )Link to "www.toyota-europe.com" Interview to Lance Scott, Design General Manager of Toyota ED2 Design, talking about their work on the Yaris Cross and C-HR -- Last edit: 2023-01-08 14:30:08 |

the sad biker ![]() | Another Harley, that chrome frame around the seat is typical of late 60's into 70's Shovelhead FLH Electra Glides with the hydraulic damped solo seat. The feature was dropped in the early 80's and was certainly gone before the Evo motor in '85. |

the sad biker ![]() | Yes same bike. Modified Harley FLHsomething. Twin shocks & fat 16" front wheel would indicate stripped down Electra/Sport Glide derivative. A shot of the motor would help. |
