The thing is, they weren't just garbage trucks, for example the Latil in my link is a stake bed truck and it's RHD.

In Continental Europe RHD is rare for garbage truck - but common for street sweepers.

johnfromstaffs ENThe chances of any English district council (I cannot speak for the other countries) buying, or even having heard of a Saviem dustcart in 1957 are vanishingly minute.

The council of the town where I grew up, at that time had two dustcarts, a 1950 Morris-Commercial, URE 99, and a 1956 Thames ET6, 461 LRF. (iirc, of course). They also still had a 1920s SD Freighter used asa a gully cleaner, cesspit emptier, unfortunately I can’t recall the registration number, but I remember being fascinated by its weird design.

Thank's Mike :) ... but I'm not sure about a VF2? I rather see a R4 Fourgonnette (seems to have sliding window). By the way the VF2 came in production in 1973, then it can't be ;)

sixcyl FRUp to me, it's not a genuine Citroen of "Armée de Terre", but a civilian Citroen Type 55, 46 or 60 painted for movie as french army. The wooden platform and tarpaulin shape doesn't match with those made by Genève (body) for armies (Terre, Air, Mer), and there is not any army indentification on the body.

By the way, the military Citroen of that era were Type 55, or Type 46 CDI. I didn't find any C60 DI in my sources, neither in "50 ans de véhicules militaires en France de 1945 à nos jours" by J.M.BONIFACE -ed ETAI, nor in "Les Camions Citroën" by F.Sabates-W.Jensen - ed. Massin Editeur.
But maybe , some lacks can occur in these books too ?

For this one particularly, I would say a Citroen Type 55. but it could be a 46 either?

Recall the difference:
Type 55 ==> Gazoline or Diesel 4,68 Litre engine
Type 46 ==> Gazoline 5,10 Litre engine
Type 47 ==> Diesel 5,10 Litre engine
Type 60 ==> Same engines as 46 or 47 , but streched and enforced chassis.

There are no external differences between 55 and 46,47.
