dsl ![]() | 89+ lattice wheels | 2023-05-16 16:52
CarnivalRedEscort ![]() | Yes. I believe the 340 lost the chrome window frames and gained the deep body side mouldings when the 360 went out of production so I can see the confusion. | 2023-03-26 11:09
dsl ![]() | OK - yes. I'm not expert on these - I just read details from Glass's Car Check guides. Which for 360 GLT 4&5 door has a specific mention for August 88 of black window surrounds (plus high level brake light, deep bodyside mouldings and sunroof). Didn't last long here as all 360s discontinued May 89. Most of our 340s went at same time, leaving only 1.4/1.7 basic and GL hatches - no saloons any more - to limp on until Oct 91. |

CarnivalRedEscort ![]() | I am 99% sure this is a 360GLT. I’m not an expert but I have owned a 1984 360GLS and a 1987 360GL. My brother has owned a 1982 343GL, a 1983 360GLT and a 1987 340 GL. Also during the 1980s I spent quite a bit of time at a local Volvo dealer. As far as the UK is concerned all 360s with the fuel injected 2.0 engine have fog lights integrated into the front valance. That is all GLTs and the GLE saloon with the “injection” badge on the boot lid. All other 360s had the carburettor version of the same engine. They never had fog lights fitted as standard but where they would be mounted was covered by black plastic blanking plates-easy enough to fit the lights retrospectively but few bothered. For some reason no UK buyer of a 340 had the option of fitting these fog lights as there was no mounting in the front valance. In the final years of the 340 many were fitted with the “GLT” spoilers (front and rear) and also in a lot of cases the 13” alloy wheels that had been fitted to the 360GLE injection saloon wearing the same size tyres as the rest of the steel wheel equipped range, but still no fog lights. I think they were known as 340GL Redline. The GLT hatchback and saloon had 14” alloy wheels as standard, the same as this car, and I don’t think they were offered as an option on other versions. As for tinted glass, the brochures I have read say only the 340DL has not got tinted glass. As for grille badges, 1982-1985 everything that wasn’t a DL got a grille badge. 1986 onwards the clues on the front apart from the fog lights and blanking plates were chrome or black grille surrounds and the grey plastic or painted bumpers-no badges. 360s had painted bumpers, like this one. 340s had grey plastic. The one other external feature visible on this picture that tells me that it is a 1986-1989 360 is the side windows are connected with a black decal (not present on any 340 I have seen). Sorry to nag on such a trivial matter. Have I convinced you? |

Exiv96 ![]() | From what I see on parts sites, only two "light duty" J70 Land Cruiser versions were made in RHD for european markets, both short wheelbase, metal tops : LJ70V (2.4 Turbo Diesel from 10/1985 to 01/1993) then KZJ70V (3.0 Turbo Diesel from 05/1993 to 04/1996). This episode was broadcast in October 1991, so it can't be a KZJ. | 2022-05-31 09:46

Skid ![]() | On this particular segment they were asking for public help in locating a suspect driving a similar vehicle, so presumably they just mocked up a similar plate and used it on the first silver Range Rover they could get. | 2021-08-16 02:32
Skid ![]() | This is actually an Alpina. The show made a big deal out that, since there were said to be only five like it in the UK at the time. This show frequently used the actual cars in the reenactments, and I suspect that was the case here as well...the car has the gold Alpina stripes, multispoked wheels, and Alpina badging. Unfortunately the car's front plate is never legible in the segment, and it had no rear plate. |

dsl ![]() | Feb 86 side indicators. No tints, special tailgate badging or rear wiper, so I don't think a posh one. Mismatched wheel covers don't help. Lots of black rubber around windows etc, with only the moulding inserts and the (Nov 88) black roofrack for excitement. 89 L my best idea. | 2021-02-18 18:42

Skid ![]() | This segment was about the theft of the vehicle, which was subsequently used in a robbery and dumped several days later. The hosts made a big deal about how rare and distinctive the car was, and were appealing to the public about sightings of it, to track the movements of the robbers. They also claimed the actual car was used in the reenactment. The registration, B474 BCW, comes back as untaxed since 1992, though a log book was issued as recently as 2018. |
