zodiac SE:hello:

This is a 1975-77 Volvo F 609. (Unless a F 407 or F 409 specifically ordered with a large fuel tank, but that has to be as second choice. There's no sound and no picture of the number plate.)

zodiac SEWhen I looked in the Volvo HGV magazine (Volvo pċ väg) issue 1 1975, I notice that there were also one model of the 6-series with small wheels. All the others had big wheels.
One particularly noticeable difference between the 4- and the 6-series is that the 4-series had an 80 litre fuel tank (Inline 4-cylinder 4 litre fuel injected Diesel) while the 6-series had an 130 litre fuel tank (Inline 6-cylinder 6 litre fuel injected Diesel).
From 1975 onwards there were five models on offer with this cabin: F 407, F 409, F 609, F 611 and F 613. F 407 until F 609 had small wheels while F 611 and F 613 had large wheels.

The above example has a 130 litre fuel tank https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zVJ-3iS3j8 (at 1:12:42) and should thus be a 1975-77 Volvo F 609 as first choice.

Lateef NOScania typically had a 'Scania' nameplate on the grille, as subject truck doesn't appear to have it I'd say it's still a Vabis. 2022-12-22 16:54

zodiac SEI didn't expect this. I had this Volvo range, in this particular colour, on a poster in my room when I grew up. It was published when the range was presented in 1975.

Anyway, the range was formed by the 4-, 6-, 10- and 12-series, but only the 4-series had these small wheels. With an F in front if the cab was mounted on top of the engine (otherwise an N).

But in the early days, they were not called just F4, but F4xx, where the x's told the maximum weight. I don't know if that was the total weight or the maximum carrying weight. There were several alternatives: F406, F407, F408 and F409.
Earlier MY's had smaller V-O-L-V-O letters in black and a standing rectangular figure in the grille. That can be seen here http://towpunktse.blogspot.com/2016/07/volvo-f409-76-jmm470.html .

This is at least a 1975+ Volvo F406, but could also be a F407 or a F409 (the F408 was introduced later).

It's very difficult to find specific information on rare thing on the internet, but I've managed to find a brouchure currently for sale, but the link might disappear rather quickly:
Link to "www.tori.fi" (unfortunately the pictures mostly shows the heavier F6 with the bigger wheels)

Lateef NOHere's a facelifted 929 with an earlier registration date: April 23rd 1976. In Japan the facelift occurred in October 1975, and may have been introduced around new year 1976 for the Norwegian market. Danish, Norwegian and Icelandic markets had a large share of Japanese cars at the time and may have received them before, say the French, West German and British markets. 2022-12-17 20:27
s13a LTIndeed. Somehow my mind decided to go with 1977 for an unexplainable reason :/

Although I do now remember that in some markets this was considered as 1977 model, because they received these facelifted models in Sept. 1976, but currently I can't remember which markets I had in mind.
