Exiv96 ![]() | I've just seen a post on Facebook mentioning the following: "Assembly of Land Rovers began in March 1961, and assembly of cars about six months later. In the second quarter of 1961, just six 6271-series CKD MkI 3-litre manual Saloons were passed to Motor Packing in Coventry for onward shipment to Port Elizabeth. After them came 306 CKD MkIA types between September 1961 and June 1962, all manual-gearbox models in the 727-prefix series. These were followed by a further 402 MkII 3-litre Saloons between mid-1962 and mid-1965, but there were no Mk IIIs or Coupés. There were 252 of the 772-prefix manuals and 150 of the 777-series automatics. These South African 3-litres were the only CKD examples of the model ever made. There is very little information available about them, but we know that they had some differences from the Solihull-built cars. The front seats were always fixed-backrest individual types without the pull-down armrests found on UK cars, and there were minor differences in the pedals and possibly also in the switchgear." Sunbar ![]() | Leyland DAF trucks branding was used in the 1990s in South Africa from auction listings, therefore Leyland DAF 400 is likely. This also filmed in South Africa... /vehicle_85479-Leyland-DAF-400-V400-1990.html |

Gag Halfrunt ![]() | Filmed in South Africa, not India. Could be a Leyland from Britain, bodied in South Africa, but not an Ashok Leyland. dhill_cb7 ![]() | Not quite. Trim levels of South African built models determine the lower cladding. Only US built models have silver cladding 2008-2009. |
