dsl ![]() | 19 J is correct - 1965 Sebring 12 hrs - http://www.racingsportscars.com/suffix/photo/Lotus/19/J.html . But noted that wiki says 19 B in a useful account of this unique version "The 19B: Towards the end of 1963, John Klug founder of Pacesetter Homes Racing commissioned Lotus to build a special 19 to be Ford V8 powered. Ford's new lightweight iron block 289 c.i. engine was chosen over Oldsmobile's smaller Aluminum V8. Roy Campbell finished the car in Southern California. Dan Gurney, who had enjoyed considerable success at the wheel of the Arciero Brothers Lotus 19-Climax was the driver. Because of its unique specification, it was known as the 19B, the only 19 with this designation. Originally delivered in red livery, the car first appeared at Nassau in December 1963. In 1964 it was the fastest sports car in the world, but the car's weak spot was its Colotti transaxle, the failure of which led to a number of retirements. By mid 1965 it was just another old car. It continued racing in Southern California and eventually dropped out of sight. Wayne Linden of Roseville, California found it in a semi trailer waiting to be turned into a "dune" buggy. He restored it to early 1964 configuration except for the Colotti and ran it in mostly Cobra club events. He sold it to Gordon and Nancy Gimble. Today the car regularly appears at vintage car events in the US." | 2018-03-04 23:35
dsl ![]() | Other ep11 cars come from 1965 Sebring 12 hours, which would make this Grand Sport chassis #003, Delmo Johnson/Dave Morgan, race #1, finished 36th - http://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/1965/Sebring-1965-03-27-001.jpg . And our only genuine Grand Sport sighting so far. Chassis #005 was also entered with race #2 for George Wintersteen/Peter Goetz/Ed Diehl, finished 14th, but had different livery of white over blue - http://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/1965/Sebring-1965-03-27-002.jpg (model by Eagles Collectible/Universal Hobbies - bought off ebay 2 weeks ago for £10 ) |

dsl ![]() | 1966 Targa Florio, #162 Ted Worswick/Alan Minshaw, retired. 767 KNX was works car in 64 Sebring 12 Hours, then sold off for £1000 (still in full race spec, but same price as a normal showroom model) and then passed to Worswick who kept it for 26 years and also ran it in 68 Targa Florio. Apparently "one of only five Works-prepared 3000s set-up for pure circuit racing and ... the most historically significant, and certainly the most original Big Healey of the lot, 767 KNX is arguably one of the most notable 3000s produced." - http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/20994/lot/141/ . dsl ![]() | ENX 416C was one of the 2 works Sprites at 65 Le Mans (#48 by Rauno Aaltonen/Clive Baker, retired) - http://www.sebringsprite.com/worksregister65-69.html - but there was no Sprite #35 in any Le Mans 1964-7. It was chassis #HAN8R65135 - http://www.racingsportscars.com/chassis/archive/HAN8R65135.html . The other 65 LM Sprite was ENX 415C (#HAN8R65/52 - http://www.racingsportscars.com/chassis/archive/HAN8R65__52.html ). Where else did they race, possibly after being sold off by Healey? Link to "www.racingsportscars.com" does not provide a #35. | 2014-01-21 02:43

velocetwo ![]() | This was once thought to be true, but it is not. The Manta was built from spares provided by Bizzarrini to Giugiaro. The only P538 to have a VIN number was the Duke D Aosta car so it is impossible to verify. The P538 located in the Blackhawk collection is the leMans car. On another note the P538 was designed by Giugiaro while at Bertone and was the first sketch by Giugiaro of the Lamborghini Miura. Giugiaro left and Gandini finished the design. |

handshifterAl ![]() | Unless you know what you are talking about, maybe it would be better to refrain from commenting on motorcycle identification. The Harley-Davidson on the left is a 1200cc Hydra Glide. That round front fender medallion was added to models made in Harley's 50th anniversary, dating this example's manufacture to precisely 1953. The one on the left is a later model Harley-Davidson 1200cc Duo Glide, judging from the shape of the front fender tip, which was available from 1959 to 1966. |

siata1 ![]() | I believe, the car ist not a Simca-Abarth 1300 Bialbero of french origin. It looks like a Abarth-Fiat 1000 Bialbero 1963. Only the small Simca-Abarth 1150 with original body of the Simca 1000 was sold under this make. The sportier models 1300 GT, 1600 GT and 2000 GT were always listed as Abarth-Simca, according to Al Cosentinos Abarth Guide and should be listed under Abarth. |
