And it could be SJ20 as well, but I can't find external differences between SJ10 and SJ20 (other than black bumpers on SJ20 in the linked picture, which were painted black on SJ10 models as well, since 1979).

The rare Jimny 8 (a.k.a. SJ20) had a 800cc engine, more than what was allowed for a kei vehicle, so it wore regular white plates, rather than yellow kei plates.

Exiv96 BEInteresting stuff translated from the japanese Wikipedia article on the Land Cruiser.

"February 1979

The radiator grille has been changed from an oval to a rectangular shape. Only in Japan, the diesel engine has been changed from the B type to the 2B type in order to control exhaust gas, and the model types are BJ41 and BJ44."

s13a LTHeadlights sit lower, square fender mirrors - at the earliest 1978+ model (which becomes SJ10-3, as in - phase III of SJ10)

[Image: suzuki.1.jpg] - earlier 1977 model (SJ10-2) for a comparison: rounded fender mirrors; headlights are located slightly higher.

Q-Ball JPIs that a sidemarker on the front quarter panel? Or is it simply a reflection?
The green plate with white lettering denotes a commercial vehicle, likely a private livery car.
Such would require stringent alterations to comply with Japanese law.

s13a LTWasn't confident at first, but now I believe it's a Datsun Sunny B110, with either earlier or later tail lights:

Link to "cdn.snsimg.carview.co.jp"

Edit: it's rather a 1972+, the first models to have this grille were GX models in 1972 (like this one: https://aucview.aucfan.com/yahoo/k162941383/ ), similar Gloria-like grilles were used by other more posh Cedric models the same year (1972).

Edit 2: GX was released in 1971.10 either way, so technically it's still MY1971 (as model years don't exist in Japan)

s13a LT^In a 1980-81 TV series, I'd think not.
Cresta became [X60] on August 1982; earlier models (1980-81) were classified as [X50].

Same or different, but with these odd black (painted?) bumpers, I think it's the very same one:

s13a LTI'd rather vote for 1975 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu ( Classic trim ?) on the right. Unless it appears later?

Edit: No response since yesterday, so I'd rather choose a more visible (and more interesting in Japan) Chevy.

s13a LTI'd venture to say 1978+ Mazda Bongo, but the script on the rear door is a bit puzzling.

It could be its derivative - Ford Econovan
/vehicle_1056850-Ford-Econovan-1978.html

But I don't understand if they were sold in JP this early, or were they sold later on:
