police car fan  | I found perhaps an explanation. According to the Wikipedia page the series became very popular and spawned films, spin-offs series, and books. The infobox reads: followed by: Motto Abunai Deka (モットーアブナイデカ). If there is a spin-off it must've been produced with the same main characters very shortly after the original tv-serie. This explains why there are two main cars, the 1988 Leopard and the Cefiro that are ''too new''. I didn't know of any spin-off tv serie when i used a translator for the Japanese titles on YouTube. If this scene is really from Episode 10, which was first broadcast in December 1986, and filmed earlier, that's nearly two years ! Something's not right. And that's not the only strange thing. The E30 Galant was launched in October 1987, yet it's seen in Episode 13, also from December 1986. Mitsubishi wasn't a sponsor of the show, so why would they provide a not yet unveiled car ? |
